Tradestation Securities - datafeeds

Posted by jtrader : 01-11-2004 at 09:36 PM.

Thanks Guys

the reason I ask is that I may want to upgrade to TS8 from TS2000i - as having datafeeds, charting, strategy design, backtesting, optimisation etc. - in and from the same place, does seem to make sense. If I am to trade CME Globex futures forex or eminis - I may as well go one step further and have a tradestation brokerage account - and If I open the brokerage account I also get TS8 half price at $100 per month.

Have also suggested to tradestation that they supply a neutral spot forex datafeed such as SPComstock or EBS for use in TS8. Their only spot datafeed is RJO O'Brien data from their spot forex broker RJO O'Brien. This is OK for people trading with RJO O'Brien - but for someone who may be unable to open the brokerage account and say has to use FXCM it is not good - as there are likely to be conflicts between their brokers data and the data provided in the charts by RJO O'Brien. But the non-brokerage client could still use TS8 for spot forex trading - with a neutral/more representative datasource.

Cheers

Hi

I posted this message on the "Tradestation 8 and Tradestation 2000i" thread.

FXCM for example offer two seperate intelli-charts with two different data sources - FXCM tradeable prices data in one, and SP Comstock data in the other charts. This ensures that the FXCM SP Comstock charts can still be used and the data trusted by a trader trading with CMS, GFT, ACM, CMC, Oanda etc. - whereas a trader may not trust the FXCM charts with FXCM data in them - if trading with CMS, GFT, ACM, CMC, Oanda etc - as discrepencies are likely to arise.

Do you agree that more discrepencies are likely to arise between the charts and the prices avaialable with your broker if trading spot forex with Oanda (for example) but with RJO O'Brien charts, than when trading with Oanda but with (neutral) SP Comstock or EBS data?

Do you agree that if tradestation securities were to make a "neutral" spot forex datafeed available for use in TS8 - such as EBS or SP Comstock (for the reasons quoted in bold - above ) - then more non-brokerage clients would be likely to subscribe to TS8?

If you do agree, I would be grateful if you could please send a short email request outlining your opinion & reasons to [email protected] - and ask them to pass the request onto the companies Management Team - this way they may realise that their service can easily be improved(through people power :cheesy: ), and start to offer a better service - which is also good for TS Securities - as they will make more money :).

Many thanks
:)
