Hi all and thanks for your time if you read this. I am a intermediate trader who has been out of it for a while and am getting back in. I have an Interactive Broker account and I am now looking for a good charting software. I think the thing that I am wondering is that I would like to scan for candlestick patterns and if any of the better charting software out there provide for it? Also, I am interested in Demark indicators... does anyone know if a chart software has that or has a third party scan plug-in for it? I also want to back test some ideas and write a couple of indicators myself. I had used Worden's telechart with modest success (they give really good advice) but I think I want more bells and whistles. Also, I want to see Level 2 quotes (I think most traders do so I think that is on most anyway). And last I want real time quoting. I am looking at Omnitrader, Wizetrade, Esignal and Metastock but I know there are others....
One more item - I haven't checked out the data feeds, I know I can get them from IB but does anyone know if I can get them cheaper? I greatly appreciate the info......

i only know of legit demark on Aspen (awful), CQG (nice but pricey) or BBG (which isnt what youwant). either way, expect to pay through the nose for them.

probably can find some code for them for Esignal, nnjatrader etc but this guy is like a hawk on copyright infrignement.

Check out www.ninjatrader.com, they have a built in CandleStick indicator that might be sufficient or you can check out Steve Nison's Candle Scanner for NinjaTrader (http://www.nisoncandlescanner.com/). NinjaTrader is free for this when connecting to Interactive Brokers.

DashRipRock mentioned CQG, NinjaTrader just integrated with CQG available through AMP Global Clearing.

All trading platforms ate 90% solutions in my opinion. You just have to find the closest fit.

Demark now charges for his indicators its now $500 a month, so even if you have Bloomberg yo will have to pay extra for it.

This comes into effect on 1st April.

Bloomberg has developed its own indicator very similar to Demark and has proven to be better in a number of situations.

The charts package is all part of the Bloomberg package so if your looking at CQG for charting and maybe a Reuters for pricing and a Capital IQ for company data, you would be best to buy a Bloomberg as this caters for everything and more.

It has amazing accuracy with ETFs like UGA and FXC, but not so much with volatile tech stocks like DDD.

You can always find an indicator with amazing accuracy in one or two out of the hundreds of etfs and thousands of stocks out there. Thew problem is do you know in advance where the indicator is going to be accurate and for how long?
