Sharescope

I agree chaps, that's why I was asking Sharkie and Rognvald to add a forum for Sharescope...and I am sure it will be done..Rognvald did mention that he will add it sometime.......So this is a small reminder really...

I also agree that Sharescopes own BB is bit of a fuzzy duddie..(sorry was watching dad's Army..!!!)...

I would also be interested in a Sharescope forum. Particularly as they are undergoing some big changes this autumn. In addition to Sharescope Real Time (now renamed Sharescope Pro) and Sharescope EOD (now renamed Sharescope Gold), they are going to bring out a 3rd intermediate version with 15-min delayed prices.

you can get free real time for uk /us from bigcharts.com.for uk stocks just put in uk: ie uk:gsk or uk:ukx for ftse 100.why bother with sharescope, its all free at bigcharts.lots of indecators, java charts.real time and eod.you can save youre prefences and portfolios

....ok say I want to know the PE ratio, yield, dividend, Beta, EPS and say company address etc....

any luck there with big charts....or should I say...bother with Sharescope for these....

ShareScope is great for UK EOD, useless and expensive for realtime IMHO.

THE big advantage, in my view, to Sharescope is that you can grab a data history for x years (EoD, or - apparently the 'gold' version I'm on about here), and it's in a simple format you can do what you like with... easy to feed into lots of other programs. That you can grab funnymental data from it is a bonus (it'd be nice if you could export some of that stuff alongside price data). The problem with Bigcharts etc is that you are limited to the tools they provide - those of us who like to feed it all into a PC to find patterns or other setups will always need a source of cheap, reliable price data... Sharescope is really good for that.

And please don't tell me yahoo is free - (1) you have to bolt the darn stuff back together, or buy a downloader like 'hquotes' to collect and compile it, and (2) I've found so many errors in yahoo data it isn't funny - anyone using that for trading needn't use charts, there's no point looking at a chart if it isn't showing accurate info. There's no substitute for a decent data service!

It's the speed of manipulating data in many different portfolios in Sharescope EOD which makes me prefer using it to portfolios I hold on web sites. Even with broadband, looking at charts and pricing data seems more convenient than looking on-line. But as I don't use Sharescope real-time, the free on-line prices at bigcharts.com is certainly useful.
