Updata is supposed to take DDE compliant feeds. I've tried to find out the IB DDE coding without success. Ask Updata. They'll be reluctant as they want to sell you their feed.

...yes agree..anything 'external'...their reponse 'don't know mate...ask them..!!

That is their pricing model - we who bought the use of the software have to accept it. I believe they didn't realise what they were doing at the time or they wouldn't have sold the rights. However it would be a sop to the dissatisfied who purchased with purchase in mind to helop them with their problems.

Other such as Linnsoft offered an absolute purchase/ maintain up to date option and that is why I went to them and will stay at least until I gert my money back. Updata is being a bit short sighted here although they now have an excellent product imv.

At their launch, when many were there it was very clearly mentioned that it will have facility to take feeds from external source....like Indexia who provided a patch files for several feeds depending on who one wanted to be with. I remember using prestel and then moveing on to other. All these patch files were and are still avilable on Indexia web site....

The question is that if DOS based programme can give so much facility, where is Updata's problem???...I think it is a case of if one is willing then all is possible...otherwise Oatman is right...they are pushing people to use their package as everything rolled into one....data, package and support....

I don’t suppose that the course of this discussion has anything to do with a couple of posts that appear to have gone unanswered on the old Indexia board recently, by any chance?

So far as I know, support for the Indexia program ceased on 30th November 2002. I know this because I’ve just checked that this was stated in the announcement that Indexia made on the board on 18th October 2002.

I’ve also just opened the message centre (system tray icon) on my machine and I can tell that you’ll find that the following third party feeds are currently shown (albeit greyed out in may case): Prestel Citifeed, Market-Eye, Tenfore, B.I.S, and several more whose names I don’t recognise.

You’ll recall that Indexia II Plus offered three separate packages providing Real Time data. I’ve just copied this from the old Indexia site:

• 15 minute delayed LSE prices - saves you the cost of exchange fees and premium priced data.
• Real-time LSE prices - up-to-the-second prices to keep you ahead of the market.
• Real-time LSE and LIFFE prices - offers you up-to-the-second futures and options prices.

Alternative Real-time Data Services

INDEXIA is compatible with many other real-time data services including:
• Reuters
• Bloomberg
• Tenfore
• Signal and eSignal
• Market-Eye
• CMC Deal4Free

Technical Analyst (Windexia) may have got off to a slow start, not least in terms of providing compatibility with third party data feeds. But, I think you’ll find that these issues have largely been addressed and the real-time version of the software currently provides compatibility with a range of third party feeds and services, together with increasing levels of automation.

I’d also suggest that Updata will be looking to provide compatibility with other real-time data feeds and services in the future.

But, you'll have accept Updata's pricing model in order to obtain them, as Rognvald says.

I use updata. As far as I know it is compatible with their own feed and with mytrack, tenfore and bloomberg. I use updata feed and I am trying mytrack at the moment for emini. I wish I could afford bloomberg. Next year perhaps :) I don't know much about DDE but the manual shows you how to configure any feed for DDE. I believe it will do esignal and reuters. I also know it reads data from Indexia, CSI and metastock. So all in all, there's not much they can't do.

I must add that I find the software excellent and the backup and customer service very good too. Thats my experience.

Hi
With the demise of Market Eye broadcast data this month I am looking for a
replacement. Mkt Eye suggested I sign up with trade2win for ideas.

I see from the above you are/were well informed about the real time alternatives.I
would much appreciate your current views/advice.

P.S. I have tried tenfore and esignal but they now feed into Updata`s Technical Analyst.
I believe I need a third party interface to get real time data over the internet into Indexia.
