I have some code that I paid a programmer to do. He is now unavailable to help me make changes and move forward. I have been trying to get hold of him to unlock the code so I can give it to another programmer to work on but have had no success.

Is there a way to unlock the code? I have paid all my invoices to this guy and never signed an agreement saying he owned the code.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks

It may well be just as inexpensive to have your code set re-written from your rules instead of paying somebody to hack open the code set for you. If you paid him to write you some code then I see no reason why it would be protected in the first place. If you bought some of his code then I can surely see why he would have protected it. I myself am a professional EL programmer and I would much rather start a code set from scratch than try to modify the code that was started by somebody else.
