Sharky - who wrote the notes? Particularly the market history bit?

Sharky started this thread Check the 'History' page for it here: Foreign exchange - History - Traderpedia - shows a history of all revisions of the page.

Thanks - tracked it down in the end. Pretty much confirmed my already previously stated views about the traderpedia. I was trying to give it another go and the benefit of the doubt, but I still feel the same.

Sharky started this thread Can you think of any way that this can become a more useful resource? For example if it was getting several updates each day - kind of like new forum posts, and you were made aware and felt that other were equally working hard to update it? Imagine if every update made was listed in "view new posts", and there were several updates during the day, would that generate a renewed interest I wonder? I have to look back at your earlier comments but as I recall you thought the idea of a wiki was fundamentally flawed.

It's fundamentally flawed imho because anyone can edit anyone else's post. And there is a huge range of abilities and experience within the membership of the site. So unlike the KL, where you write a piece, the editorial staff (JillyB at present?) review it for suitability and it goes in, and people rate it and discuss it, with the traderpedia you could spend time and effort writing something based on years of relevant experience, only for someone else to come along and potentially spoil it.

Kind of the T2W equivalent of painting your house and then someone putting graffiti all over it.......with spelling mistakes

So it's just not something I would ever want to spend a lot of time on. Like I said - fundamental flaw, and not one that could be corrected without taking it away from the wikipedia style format.

Just my $0.02

Now Traderpedia's been going a while, and having looked round at the whole wiki scene, I think the best thing would be to donate the best Traderpedia articles to Wikipedia, and stop hosting a wiki on T2W.
