Hey Guys this is my first post after reading this site for the last 12 months and trying to learn as much as i can.

Big thanks to everyone who contributes.

I am currently looking into pairs trading and trading spreads for two reasons:

1: I figure this i the best way for me to learn as much about the markets whilst reducing my risk as much as feasibly possible and staying in the game to learn.

2: Having worked at the IPE for a short while and seeing the locals trade from what i could see were mainly spreads of various sorts ( Calendars Etc ) i hope i may have gained a little as to what was happening

My question is would anybody know of any free or cheapish charting programs where i can chart a number of indices, shares and commodities on the same chart to look for any seaonal trends or share correlations. Preferably with the ability to go back over a few years of data.

Be gentle with me this is my first post

Cheers

I like amibroker personally.. its much more powerful yet much cheaper than its competitors (metastock, wealth lab).

Are you looking for end of day data, or intraday? There are a couple of very good end of day data sites which are free, but for intraday real-time quotes you will need to pay.

Yes EOD data is fine to start off with. I have found Prorealtime.com which seems to be fine and also provides an easy to use back testing facility with the ability to chart stocks or indices against each other for determining spreads. Is also relativlely inexpensive for real time feed i think its around 50 euros a month. If you know of any others which i could try out it would be much appreciated.

No, ProRealTime was the one I was going to recommend. You can have a 7 day free trial of their real-time data and I found it excellent.
