Hi, has anyone seen a company called Smart Live Markets is now offering spreadbetting on MT4? Anyone know what they are like? Demo looks OK!

Re: Meta Trader 4

I didn't know any SB firm used MetaTrader. They seem to be quite a new firm. Anyone tried them yet?

Re: Meta Trader 4

1 pip spread on cable - nice.

7 pip spread on AUD/USD? FFS!

...and now cable's gone to 2.

Nothing much to see here I think.

Hi
Not sure where you are seeing that ? I have them as fixed spreads .. 2 on cable. Demo looks OK.

Said 2pt when I looked.

Assumed it would be yet another LCG white label, but apparently not. What, no free money account opening offer?!

btw, FXCM/ODL are having MT4 spreadbetting, I think.

I just clicked on "FX" from the top page.

I'm only seeing it as 2 now. Maybe it was some oddity before the market was properly open.

AUD/USD is still 7 though, which is hardly competitive.

I'm wondering if it's a bit like FXCM where they have different platform offerings, only one of which is spread-betting. If this is the case, I wonder if the MT4 is actually for the SB platform or a non-SB platform?

I downloaded the demo this morning and it does appear to be for SB. All the interments have a suffix of SB (eg. GBPUSDSB)

Not three bad!!

Hi
Well not sure where you are seeing that about the AudUsd. On my Demo they are 3 ticks and seems work lovely !!

Re: Meta Trader 4

Am I missing something here?

MT4 platform, minimum bet size 10p per point, FSA regulated.

These things almost seem to good to be true, I notice they also have a office in Istanbul so I am not sure if they are a Turkish company who has opened a branch over here.

I will try a couple of questions to them and see what response times and attitudes are like.

Jon.

Re: Meta Trader 4

Yeah, 10p per point. You wouldn't think it would worth their while having such a low minimum.

Depends on how much of the market they can grab by offering SB on MT4. People have being crying out for an SB company to adopt it for eons. I am sure that they will get plenty of business if they turn out to be reliable.

Re: Meta Trader 4

Interesting that on the MT4 platform, they claim to offer no dealer intervention.
Is this the same as "no dealing desk"?

There is also a "Currenex" platform (available soon) which advertises "straight through processing" and market depth. Also one click trading.

I have to say it sounds as if they are trying hard.

I hope there are no catches.

If you have any questions for them send them an email to [email protected] I got a good response from the questions I asked, normally when you email the spreadbet companies you don't even get a email back let alone your questions answered.

Questionable Data

I've noticed a few spikes on their Dow chart. It is demo data though!!

Hi Moxy.

I emailed them and asked about the spikes, here is their answer:

The charts on MT4 can be a nightmare. The particular problem with the Dow has been to put historical data on the system.

As we only ‘turned it on’ recently, obviously we only had a couple of months data.

So I imported a load the other day, via a Bloomberg feed, which looks like it has had a few issues.

The other problem with the Dow is that obviously we price our Spread Bet and CFD price off the Dow Future and adjust it with a fair value to get the cash price.

This enables us to quote it when the cash is closed. But for historical data this is a problem as it does not include this ‘out of hours’ time period.

But hopefully if you refresh your chart now it should better.

Hope that helps.

Jon.
