I left CMC markets after their chart change (still having nightmares). Today I wake up
and find that IG Index have updated their quick charts and its back to unthoughtful
design again.

I loved the way their quick charts worked much more than their advanced package. You
could switch between 1m 5m 15m 1H with no problems, move your support/resistance
lines around easily. Well today that all changed (almost crying).

Issue number 1: there is no live price on the right hand side, yes thats right no live price. You have to look up at the top of the chart to see that. What moron came up with that idea!!!!

ISSue number 2: you cant delete, move support/resistance lines drawn in a different time frame. What moron didnt check that.

Issue number 3: when switching timeframes you have to constantly adjust the chart to see recent action unlike before

Seriously if its not broken dont fix it!!! Is it too much to ask these companies not to
screw things up....

The advanced charting package which IG provide is worth a look. It's a white labelled product; the original vendor is ProRealTime which I use and strongly recommend (and no, I don't work there). It's an excellent chart system and the programming language is straightforward and will do most things, apart from combining strategies. It's not that expensive either.. the package I have costs £400 a year. CQG is about a grand a month, as a comparison.

FTSE's moving in all timeframes...

Issue 1 is an option. Just set it.

Issue 2 is a bug I suspect.

Highlight dustbin then double left click brings up the "delete all lines" message

Have you ever thought to phone IG's dedicated chart support? Early days I got stuck on a few things and they helped in seconds, very helpful guys and gals over there. When I use IG's pro real time I can flick through my 9 pairs, having pre-selected them as a list, and when I click on a pair it immediately throws up 2 linked charts, one hour and two and a list showing the major forex movers of the day - up or down...surely it's up to you to liase with them to get the best out of it ...:)

Hi Meanreversion,

Am I missing a point, but why do you pay ProRealTime £400 a year when you can get it for free with IG ? Or is your version more sophisticated ? I find the IG advanced charts pretty good, although I haven't tried any 'programming'. One thing I miss is the ability to use an oscillator of an oscillator. For example to have an RSI together with a moving average of the RSI on the same chart. Is there any answer to this problem.

Thanks, Feenix

Cheers shadow ninja, never noticed the option bar before thought setting was just an indicator menu.
All I need now is the delete function sorted and I'll be a happy bunny

Hi Feenix, you can plot RSI with moving average of RSI. First of all you need to create your own indicator for the moving average, then you can select it using the wrench icon and add to the graph with RSI on it.

The reason I pay for ProRealTime is because it's more up to date than IT Finance advanced charts; also they're more helpful than going through IG. Also (and this is probably just paranoia) I want to keep my programs in what I consider to be a safer domain.

Hi Meanreversion. Thanks for the info - I wasn't looking beyond the end of my nose !!

I agree with what Meanreversion said.. just adding that PRT allows you to plot Market Profile for example, which IG adv charts do not. For some traders who are fond of MP for certain markets or trading strategies, this is quite important and worth the investment in PRT imho.
