Anyone managed to check out the new Tradindex website yet ? Due to "excessive demand" for the site I have not a chance yet................

The spreads are mamouth!

Steve.

Which is one of the two reasons I no longer trade with them. The order reason is that the HTML platform makes it impossible to get good fills. I have emailed them a few times about their spreads, but aside from them bringing the Dax in to 2 pips, they haven't done much about. I'd be eaten alive if I tried to day trade the YM against a 5 point spread and the typical slippage!

Platform Improvement Suggestions

The new TradIndex website is a vast improvement over the old one. I have a number of suggestions that may improve the platform. If you are a TradIndex customer and agree with this, then please contact them to ask for these features also.

  1. Open positions to be valued against the bid for longs and the offer for shorts, rather than us having to work out the spread and mid price
  2. "Buy Limit Offer" and "Sell Limit Bid" buttons so that we can execute a limit order in a fast market without the delay of typing in the price
  3. The ability to place limit orders on markets when they are closed. I am sure many of us like to place orders overnight before the open, and do not wish the hassle of having to wait to manually enter them after the markets open
  4. Slightly tighter spreads on a few of the more popular markets - I'd especially like the daily Dow to come in a pip to 4
  5. Faster refreshes of the deal tickets so we can see the most recent price

I am delighted to report that their customer services people were extremely helpful today regarding a trade problem I had.

Ye I've only just noticed that refreshers are about 5-10seconds delayed. Is that the case with all spreadbetting firms or is it just tradindex?
Tradindex need to offer guaranteed stop losses aswell. I'm not joining until they do.
How often do normal stop losses fail?

It can happen in a very volatile market where you're getting large spikes but TBH I've only been caught out once. The charges for a guaranteed stop will cost you more in the long run unless you're really unlucky or trading spiky markets a lot. Personally I think they are a waste of money but it depends on how risk averse you are.

Isn't it useful when you're holding a position overnight?

Questions about new Tradindex site.

Is it me or does the new tradindex site not refresh/update your open positions?
I have to keep clicking 'refresh' to see up to date open/loss positions, is that right?:(
Does the old tradidnex site update positions every 5-10seceonds and not every second?

Ouch. Just tried to close a position and it took around 30 seconds to show the "close" webform. Another 15 seconds before it acknowledged that I'd clicked close.

Is it possible to set an order such that it opens when it hits a specific price AND closes when it touches another price, a la IG Index?

No contingent orders I'm afraid. I've asked them for this this week. I have tried to close a few positions over the phone this week after missing the price on limit orders. Sometimes it is better to close on the phone if the web is slow or it is a fast market - however, I don't think they like you doing that.

Oh, right. I thought I just couldn't see the button/link.

I won't pester them as I'm just using a play account. Bit annoying as by the time it had done its thing, it had gone from 20 pts profit to 10 pts loss.

Quite right there mate. Are you using the old or new site? They aren't a bad firm, however the spreads are a little wide. They are okay for the Dax though. The Dow and FTSE are quoted a little wide for my liking - they could bring them in a pip I'm sure.

Both new and old. I prefer the autoupdate that the old site provides for open positions but like the watchlist and design of the new site.

At the moment, I use it for testing strategies.
