Re: Random trading systems - "monkey with a pin"

I get the sense of what you mean. :)

You're right about backtesting. After backtesting, you then need to forward test - not being able to see any data to the right of the current price changes...

Re: Random trading systems - "monkey with a pin"

That really doesn't make sense. If you have a way of trading that is profitable, then all entries are valid and should be taken because you know that ultimately you are going to be profitable. Bad...

Re: Random trading systems - "monkey with a pin"

I've messed about with this in the past. You could even pick an arbitrary reason for entering (a plane flies overhead). Whilst it's true that managing the trade is important, if you keep taking duff...

Re: Sports Trading: the £20 challenge

Actually, no. I still prefer to trade football markets for the speed of action - not too fast, not too slow.

The point of using horsey markets is that action takes place far quicker and there's...

Re: Do you follow your trading rules?

Sometimes you just have to know when to break the rules. That comes from experience or gut feel... which comes from staring at the markets until you're so bored you tear your hair out.

Edit: I...

Re: Any Safe Soccer Betting Strategy ?

When I was first dabbling with Betfair, someone gave me some stern advice: trade, don't bet. To this date, I've never consistently made money betting (it may start off well but without any other...

re: My, €4.1k to €227k in 2 years, journal.

It's obvious that you need to have a reason for the trade and then you'd still need to test it rather than risk the full £5k only to learn your reason is flawed.

re: My, €4.1k to €227k in 2 years, journal.

I'm glad you're taking your time.

Forget back testing. Read up on "curve fitting". Forward testing and testing with small risk is the only way to really test a system. And you need to do it for...

Re: Best Indicators For Scalping

I'm not a scalper but in my time over the years in an effort to try to profit from scalping, I've used all of those indicators... probably all at the same time at some point. The only time I've...

Hi! Am good, ta. And you? I have been doing more in the way of sports trading as Betfair is a bit of a money tree for me. So many mong-**** gamblers out there making a nice market for traders who can...

Oh, stop. You're making me hungry!

TBH I don't care if "meat" contains bone, fat, cartilage etc. It's got protein and other substances that the body needs. And eating fat won't make you fat. I...

re: My, €4.1k to €227k in 2 years, journal.

I don't normally post these days as talking about trading bores me but you've got £5k to risk and it sounds like you can't afford to lose £5k.

Self-belief and a PMA will help when you see losses...

Re: Can't do anything right.

It's possible that your strategy only suits a particular market characteristic and it changed temporarily (how long is the issue). I would look at identifying when your system works and when it's not...

Re: Best cardio exercise

As for exercise, I'll stick to a cycling machine. I can do other things while cycling eg reading, playing with phone. I do about 60-70km a week. There's no way I'd even run 1km a week as 30m down the...

Re: Sports Trading: the £20 challenge

Interestingly, my forays into sports trading has improved my financial trading. Oh, hang on, spank me for not towing the line that sports trading is just gambling for degenerates.

Re: Best cardio exercise

I find posting completely off-topic on forums with a link in your signature to your business's website then trying to argue for 20 hours that your question is authentic is the best exercise.
