Hi all,

I have an amazon.co.uk account worth £200 but since I'm in Singapore, I couldn't use it to purchase. Anyone interested, I would be happy to sell it for £180

Thank you :)

Hi Scose :)

Please check again, this's amazon.co.uk, they don't deliver to Asia. This's actually the winning prize in the contest last month, because they didn't deliver it to Singapore, so they give me a gift certificate :)

ya, I don't know, we need to trust each other I guess, when I receive 50%, I'll send you account, then you'll send me the remaining 50% :)

Pete

I think £180 is far too high, under £150 is a better bet but even then you've got a big trust issue, nobody is going to send you 50% then you send the voucher then they send the rest. Who knows you could be running this scam all over the net picking up a risk free £90 and then disappearing.

The only way you'll be able to get rid of the voucher is to sell it to somebody on this board who's KNOWN. Agree a price, send them the voucher, they use it then send you 100% of the money. Now, if they don't send you the money you post here and tell the whole world they're a THIEF and because they're known on this board they won't want that so you'll be assured of the cash.

That's the only way you're going to get rid of it on this board I think.

That's pretty good way anley, thank you.

Ok, I'll send someone creditable the account first, then you'll send me money thereafter :)

I'm not known on this board, ie nobody knows my name, where I live etc. But many are, those are the people that will probably take you up on the offer.

Also, factor in how the money is to be sent, if western union or something like that there's a hefty charge.

hi anley,

I prefer via bank card, I have a MasterCard but other alternative could be via paypal :)

Ya, I just have to trust in human goodness that there're still plenty of love all around :)

Have you tried contacting Amazon and asking of you can convert it to a voucher that can be used outside the UK ?

Paul

Hi Paul,

I contacted them regarding to the issue but they said that amazon.uk only delivers to a certain countries.

Maybe they do but I was suggesting that you ask them if you can change the voucher from Amazon uk to a different one that meets with your needs ?

Paul

Surely you'd get a bigger audience in an ebay auction - start at say £150. I wonder how close you'd get to full value. Just looked now and current auctions include (i) £30 Amazon vouchers with current bid sitting at £30, and (ii) 2x£10 Amazon vouchers, current bid £21! Crazy.

You are often best to start any auction at 0.99p and there has been work done to show that when you do this the final price is up to 30% more than if you set a reserve. I have done this with both cars and motorbikes on eBay with good results.

Paul

Hi,

I never started any auction on ebay, I'm going to make a try though :)

What do you mean 0.99p, Paul?

The successful bidder will pay via Paypal first, right? Then I'll send him the item? The process seems not very clear.

I've also noticed this. I think it's down to the fact that ebay shows the number of bidders, the higher the number the more people seem to think that the item is a good buy, that and you get a few stubborn bidders hooked right from the start with the low price eventually driving it up for you. Bit like trading really.
