Can volume be heard at all? It has has been suggested that volume can not only be seen in volume bars but it can also be heard. Do you think this is true or false or neither ?..:cheesy:

What sort, transactional volume or size volume? You dont always get size noise do you ? and if you do then what are the different sounds that seperate transactional from size volume ?

Is one like yayayayayayayayayayaya, and the other, thud?

Yes, it's obvious.....it's screaming at you

Depends what you mean.

One could translate the conventional visual plot of volume into audio, say its absolute level, or rate of change compared to previous x length of time or price range, or lot size from the T&S, and listen the the result as a series of notes or change in sound pressure level. Throw in a #9 chord every time >50 lots go through or change key when rate of change breaches a certain level ... the possibilities are endless.

I believe an esteemed member also did some studies into S&P pit noise and plotted the signal (perhaps with a touch of compression or noise gating?) as a line below a conventional chart and found it useful.

I guess if one's visual resources are tied up scrutinising price then it could be handy to offload further input such as volume or T&S data onto another sense. Think of the difference between reading sheet music and hearing it played: I imagine the latter would give a more meaningful idea of the music's content to most people. Of course, price itself could also be "heard" in the same way.

However I suspect this is not what you mean.

Thus,

yayayaya , yayayaa, yayayayay, yaya, yayaya, yayayayayayaayaya, yayayayayayayayayayayaya, thud, grrrrrr, grrrrr, yayaya, yayaya thud, yayayaya ,yayayay, yayayayayayaya, yayayayayayayayyayaya , yayay, yayaya , yayayayayyayayayayayaya, thud, thud, thud, yayayayayayayyayaya, ayayayayayayayayaa .

LBR mentioned musical notes and I wonder is there some software or has some say taken x amount of market bars, either based on range or volume and turned it into muisc, ?

These musical pieces then can be learnt and yet also actually be music in its own beautiful way? Unique song . and then maybe even if you didnt trade that day you could still play the record and listen to it?

I suppose we could assign a note to each bar? and manually play the piece?

Has anyone got a file of market music ?

BTW...it has'nt gone unnoticed that you deliberately set this poll in this section to derail the other thread....just in case you thought we had'nt noticed.

Price Patterns

If a a large tree falls in the middle of a forest with no one around to hear it, does it make any noise?

I will have you know you are mistaken, as usual....

Try barking up another tree.

It depends who is doing the felling.

The falling tree will create pressure waves in the air and to a lesser extent through the ground. If anyone with a suitable receptacle - such as an ear, seismograph or sensitive little finger - is in the vicinity to translate these waves into something they can sense or understand then noise may be the subjective result., or perhaps even 'a resigned sigh' to one in the habit of conversing with trees. So there is always the potential for noise; whether (and how) this potential is realised depends on the presence of a suitable observer.

Crafty creature you are.... ...that's right ...you have to have properly sharpened "ears".
Don't miss much do you frugi ?....:cheesy:

Say there is a person in the forest who is deaf in one ear?

How much noise would a falling tree make then?
Errr...it would not make any difference. Noise is noise.

Yeah even lip readers who are completely deaf hear words?

Do your best Maggie Thatcher impression in ya head, well thats female right, now switch it to Ronnie RayGun, "we commence bombing in 5 minutes"

No vocal sounds but you hear it right ? even the accents?

Explain Please.

Rising volume can be heard in pits.
Volume can also be seen before it actually happens on some instruments on depth of market, especially US shares; also with bot activity on the LSE. Yes, before it happens - long before it appears on a volume bar.
Volume can also be "heard" subconsciously before it happens - with experience.
Please ask some difficult questions, just for a change, SOCRATES ;-)))
Kindest wishes,
Richard

Then what about when you have say a pile of sand on a board and play a constant sound or note through it, this , the sand will form geometric shapes, over and over again.

It has some pre determined order to it, I mean mess the sand up, play the sound again and the sand spookily reforms the shape?

whats going on?

How do you mean explain ? You can either do it or not do it. It is not a matter of choice, it is a matter of seizing the moment.

For example...you see your own name in print....or you close your eyes and imagine your name in print..you can "hear" what is sounds like....can't you ?

This is something very sudden and very similar.

Hmm yes agree on the name hearing but I assume everyone can hear everything or everyone complete with different tones accents , languages etc even different species .

I mentioned this to friends and family over a decade or so ago, they said what do you mean ,looking a bit strange like, but everyone I thought does this when they want to ? hmm maybe they cant or dont. Years back I remember thinking, thats amazing isnt it really, no one else seemed interested.
