Morning Stock Talk - Investors look for proof in the pudding
"People want to wait for very clear signs the recovery has happened before they make the commitment to stocks," which is exactly why now could be a great time to get into this market, says RBC Wealth Management's Phil Dow. The firm's director of equity strategy tells Andrew O'Day the apprehension of others could be your ally. "We are generally in an economic recovery, and stocks I think are reasonably priced. So if you can begin to think about owning companies rather than renting them, now is a pretty good time to buy quality." Dow says although Friday's employment report may show slight growth at long last, "people should remember that you need 150,000 [created jobs] to begin to make a dent in the supply of labor."
