Morning Stock Talk - Liz Miller: This recession is starting to look familiar
"It's probably dangerous to call any recession traditional, and certainly not this one," says Liz Miller, president of Summit Place Financial Advisors. But Miller tells Andrew O'Day that "months ago we were hearing a lot of talk about this looking like [The Great Depression], mostly because we were in a situation where it didn't look like monetary policy was having an effect. Five months later we're looking at a situation where there has been a lot of fiscal and monetary stimulus. We're not sure which pieces have worked and haven't, and yet it does look like we have found some stability." Miller says today's pullback reflects a desire to lock in recent profits, which is a market behaving like something closer to a normal market.
