"We do believe that this recession will likely end sometime this summer." And Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at Standard & Poors Equity Research, tells Andrew O'Day, "The market typically bottoms out about six months before the recession bottoms out." But Stovall warns the pain is not over, as underscored by today's news on home sales and unemployment claims. "I know more people who have lost their jobs than at any other time, any other recession."

Does anyone believe this "strategist"? If the recession is over by the summer - then this will surely have been the shortest recession ever. Given how excessive the credit binge that caused this reccession I somehow doubt that it will all be over in just a few months. There'll be more pain yet!

If him and 20 other analysts say it's ending this summer then I most definitely shall be shorting this summer.

haha. What a laugh. ! "The bull market might have begun" ? The Bear has not even got half way yet. ! The coming twelve months are going to be the worst for many decades. Everything is pointing to that and its not charts, or candlesticks, or any other mincing of numerics that will avoid it. Its plain sentiment and facts and bad news that propel the markets and until good news starts pouring out week after week the Bear is going to flourish. !

LOL. I think he's right... maybe he's referring to the bull market 40 years ago.
