Hi guys and gals,

I thought I would be a good idea (hope over experience?) to set up a monthly social for trader's living and/or working in Greater London and the surrounding Home Counties.

I would like to clarify that I am not intending to interfere with any existing meetings that are already taking place.

My own thoughts of the purpose of the social, would simply be an opportunity for traders wishing to meet up to discuss the markets, share thoughts and ideas or otherwise enjoy a pleasant evening with fellow traders away from staring at a load of bars, candles and squiggles on a chart!

I particularly enjoy going to restaurants. There are numerous *reasonably priced restaurants in Central London such as in Chinatown, St Christophers Place/Thayer St, Drummond St and Charlotte St. I know Jamies' would be good for a big group.

A member has kindly reminded me that Friday's could be very busy and noisy, so rather than choosing a day of the week, could you let me know which of midweek, Friday or Saturday you're unavailable.

Depending on numbers we could even rotate the day of the week.

If anyone knows of any other place to accomodate more than 20, do let me know.

The terms and conditions of the site apply, so no misbehaving! ;)

Thank you

F

*up to £15 for food.

Hey Fibonelli,

If you're up for some rudeness Wong Kei's is legendary... the food is best described as the 'McDonalds of Chinatown'!

There are a few nice places in SW London that are car-friendly, eg Marquis of Granby (pub in Esher) or, for more upmarket eating, Cafe Rouge (Esher, too).

Fridays and Saturdays are best for me; Sunday to Thursday nights I am busy. ;)

If it's to be a daytime meet, then Saturday or Sunday afternoon is fine by me, too.

Hi Shadowninja,

Thank you for your suggestions of good eating places.

This thread is to meet up in Central London. I chose Central London because traders living N, E, S, W of Central London would have similar travel distances, daytime workers would be very close to the venue and thirdly to maximise numbers.

I don't wish to offend but, ahem....., Esher is in Surrey!

Would you like to join us in Central London?

Count me in , I'm in Knightsbridge, so anywhere central is good.

LOL, what on earth ???

Not in the UK irregular visits aside, otherwise I'd always be available for a fun evening with some drinks.

Thames Ditton, eh!

I'd like to throw my hat into the gathering of the fellows too...

I can't make this weekend.

Would prefer mid-week evening. Mon - Thur. Friday is also ok but does get very crowded and noisy.

I know a good restaurant near Liverpool Street called the Haz.

When working in the City used to eat there sometimes. Excellent quality food and they cater for vegetarians too.

Prices are very reasonable and they have three set menus depending on your appetite.

London meet up

I'd be interested in any proposed get together. I'm retired and live in Bromley and can get into central London quite easily.

Thanks to everyone for showing an interest. Let wait until early next week (say by Tues 10pm) and hopefully we'll get a few more.

Sounds like a very good idea.

Count me in.

I can do any evening. I am in North London right now but have a place in Richmond too.

yeah. tues - thurs eve and anywhere near victoria or london bridge good for me.
