The SP500 is very competitive, it seems to me. Margin of 30/1, instead Footsie's 100/1; spread 0.6 versus Footsie's 2 point (spreadbetting).

I've been trying it out of hours, this morning, but it's stagnant just now, in a congestion area. It moves very well, relative to Footsie and I have them both on the screen at present.

Does anyone have any comparisons, for or against, why the SP should not be traded in preference to Footsie?

Yes, I can see a problem. Footsie's down about 65 points off its high, SP about 7. Even with trading up 3 times as much because of the margin difference, it is still pedestrian in comparison.

Split ...smaller points ranges...different positions size incorporating stops that reflect their relative volatility...everything works the same when you adjust the numbers...I would suspect though that the SP will have better liquidity than the Ftse so potentially less slippage.

Thanks, Chump. In this market it does not look so scary. I'm going to use it today, at least. The chart looks like a better chance of a recovery and breakout than Footsie although, if it goes up Footsie will go up, too.
