I?m trying to track down a historical list of the FTSE 100 constituents ~ when they entered / left the index. I?ve had no luck with the FTSE site or search engines.

Any bright ideas?

How historical do you want to be? How regularly do you want to update the data? Are you aware that the constituents are changed on a quarterly basis? How much time can you devote to your research?

You can either visit a decent library and trawl through their archives or contact Investors Chronicle or the Financial Times. All three have definitely got records going back to the inception of the FTSE 100 index in 1984.

Thanks Lion63

I was hoping for something closer to getting it on a plate - like a single list. Although its updated quarterly there aren't usually many changes so even if its on paper it wouldn't take too long but the problem with IC or FT is finding each article.

You do not have to look through each article or edition to find the list. You can simply pick a date in the year and check that date for each of the years that you require. It is not as tedious as you may think.

I'll give it a go if I can't find a list - I've got access to IC online which should simplify it.
