Hi guys,

I have been running my own internet services consultants for the past three years - I am stably earning a good wage now - but my friend recently took a job as a diamond broker and is earning stupid money..

I thought I'd try my luck and apply for a similar position, and after a telephone interview, then a face to face meeting I have secured the position.

Its a position which offers no basic rate, but a 10% commission on all deals. The senior broker who interviewed me told me the new guys earn 2k in their first month.

I am completely new to this sector and theres something in me telling me Im being naive by taking the job. Dont get me wrong I know its probably not the most wholesome way to make cash. but I dont want to do anything immoral, let alone illegal so I guess my question is, is there a legitimate way for me to take this job and earn good money?

Thanks alot guys.

Sounds like you'll be cold calling people flogging them overpriced rubbish. At least that's my guess. No different from selling scam shares, plots of land, carbon credits or wine.

I could be wrong but if you can tell us the name of the company then I'm sure we'll be able to find out for you.

I'm guessing this may explain your new job.

The coloured diamonds scam

Hi guys.. thanks for the the replies.. The company is called elite gems.

Im still 50/50 if I'm honest.

Also, even if this is a cold hearted, cold calling job - will it still look good on my CV if I put in 6 months there?

By looking good on my CV I mean will it enable me to work in a slightly more ethical brokering position?

Of course it wont look good on your CV, what are you going to say? I spent 6 months ringing up old people and taking their life savings off them for worthless investments? OK maybe it will get you a job at some other cold calling 'broker' selling land banking scams or something.

By the way its coloured diamonds they are selling, just as in the article I posted.

You can probably make money at this short term if you've got some sales experience, are very confident and not bothered by the fact you'll likely be taking hard earned cash off random gullible members of the public. I doubt it will do you many favours in the long term - you have to be a fairly scummy type of person to do this sort of work.

Re: help for single mothers

Housing assistance for single mothers is readily available to help you provide shelter to your family. The government recognizes the challenges faced by single mothers like you in meeting all the responsibilities on your own. They have collaborated with the private sector to provide housing grants meant to help you fulfil one of the necessities in raising a family- shelter.

I'll house single mothers in exchange for coitus.

Did you go for the role or made any decision? I"ve also been offered ajunior diamond broker role...which looks like a reputable company and in a financial City hub. Still undecided but it seems like a great opportunity for a starter.

Why don't you break into their houses and steal their money instead. Cut out the middle man.

Is it really that cut-throat?! Even within gold/diamond market?

Do you know anything about diamonds? What makes you think you could be providing any value to a customer by selling them and taking a 10% commission? Surely anyone with a few brain cells might realise you might just be ripping them off a bit...

One of my friends took a role in a brokerage selling diamonds.

he left after a couple of months because he felt that the general business practice was a little too shady for him and that he couldnt see himself making the money he was expecting.

My advice would be to move on.
