Saw a question that made me think. Who is who on here? Contributions welcomed.

Ones I think are on it...
Profs:
Trader Dante (ex) - Proven strategy. Makes no bones about his not being MEGA. Humble even if he does like the odd bit of literary masturbation.
GammaJammer - Knows too much stuff to be a fraud. e.g SNB intervention months ago.
Arabiannights - Seems too intelligent and idiotic to not be a trader who makes very good money. Also can obviously afford a lot of high quality drugs.

Elitejets(prof?) - Quiet confidence. On the ball.
Mr Gecko (?) - Fin Maths Boffin
Gooseman(?) - hearsay
Firewalker99(?) - Remember him from back in the Pot S-ups
Rhody (?) - Seems to know some stuff

Non profs who seem to know their sh1t:
Foredog
Blackswan
Boardome
Mr Charts - Quasi-snake oil hustle/ self proclaimed Attenboroughesque John Catrer of T2W
Genics (?)
Gumping

Hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

That's the limit of my ability to give the benefit of the doubt on the info I have.

If people like depth trade and wasp can keep fooling idiots then this place could become quite dangerous for them.

Whilst on the subject of immoral earnings two words and chastise me if you must but 'Mailing List'.

Fascinating thread, although I fear it may end in tears. Still it is Friday (as I type).

I think there are a lot of people on here who are the real deal, each in their different ways and different styles. Some are grumpier than others :) but I'm sure with good reason sometimes (and I don't mean bad trading). I notice you have omitted TRO :)

Possibly you are being a little harsh on Mr Charts, even if his style and markets are not for me, at least at the current time.

I can think of one other who I think is the real deal, who unashamedly has something to sell, but on the other hand has been a loyal member of this forum for ever (it seems) posting useful snippets and pointers to other free good stuff. I won't name names as it could be indirect advertising, but not hard to find.

Maybe you should have made this a poll (if the mechanics of T2W allow the sort of poll I mean). i.e. the vote would be for which of the following names you think are the real deal, and of course you could vote for more than one. Don't know if polling here can work this way.

What's that "mailing list" stuff about though? (I'm always the last one to hear any gossip).

EDIT: Talking of old days, I wonder whatever happened to LurkerLurker? It was interesting following his development, but then he seemed to disappear. Or maybe he's changed his name :)

Mailing list is just a theory of my own dont worry.

Maybe I am being harsh on charts but thats just because I hate him. I never omitted him from list.

I only included people who I think are the real deal and from my own experience. I may have missed many more.

Ooh Captain Currency too.

acutally a very interesting thread.
I was gonna start a similar thread a LONG time ago now.
Instead I monitored posts from various posters from many different forums for a very long time, and got a short list of who seemed to know their stuff. I then had to see more evidence of how good they were through realtime calls/statements etc. As a result My T2W list would be slightly different to yours. I am now actually lucky enough to trade every day in a private skype chatroom with about 4 of my 'trading heros' lol.

I think it's important for newbs to know... not who to listen to but who to definitely ignore. I think it was a lot easier to decide who was who when I first got involved with posting and stuff but since Pot Setups disappeared things have changed a lot.

That reminds me. BBMac.

I'd just like to know who other think are the real deal and why.

TF,

It's a good time for this to come out, here's how i see it. The likes of AN, GJ and TD are professionals, they are employed within the business. The next catagory is retired types, older guys with no mortgage, the kids have fled the nest etc etc and the markets are a bit on the side....no pressure. Then there are the guys who work from home, self employed types with an interest in the market, like a punt occaisionally. Then you've got people working in offices who have nothing better to do than come on t2w and talk trading,...fair enough. Then there are the dolies, like me.

But here's my point, there are not many people out there who have made thier sole or entire furtune from the markets.

If someone comes on here and makes a good point about trading then it's a good point, that's the only way i look at t2w these days.

Have a nice weekend, Sir!:)

Timsk may I briefly partake in a bit of deflection as a diversionary tactic and ask why that Christian Trading thread is still open :)

I think a lot of the good ones you wouldn't even have heard of. I know of 2 not on that list and there's many more.

They say it's a bad idea to meet your heroes :)
Sounds like you are not disillusioned though.

This is an interesting thread in as much as just about everyone who's on here for more than five minutes wants to know who are the fakers and who are the people worth listening to. In one way or another, it's a subject that's come up many times over the years. There have been discussions about having some kind of badge system so that members could - supposedly - distinguish between those that know their stuff from those that don't (or haven't yet proved that they do). The age old problem is finding a way to achieve this goal. In part, the rep' system was supposed to fulfil this function, but it was abused (by just about everybody) and so it was scrapped.

The members listed in the OP may or may not know their onions. And that in itself raises two important questions:
1. What criteria does one use to define someone who knows his or her onions? What is an 'expert' or ''professional' or 'successful' etc.? In reality, very very few of us know with any real certainty that another member is a really good trader who consistently makes money trading the markets over time. The only way to really be sure of this is to watch them live and to have access to all the statements of all their trading accounts. Maybe the people in the OP's list have offered him such access, but I very much doubt it.
2. What of the other 180,000+ members who are not on the OP's list? Even if they aren't consistently profitable in the markets, does it necessarily follow that they have nothing useful to offer - no market insights that are of value? Of course not, that would be absurd, IMO.
Given the points above, lists like the one the OP has provided are of little or no value to anyone else. The people on my list whom I like, respect, admire and take advice from will be different to the people on montmorencyt2w's list or morgan_edge's list etc., etc. The danger is that new members who don't know who is who on T2W will tend to look at the OP's list and see that it's provided by someone with a huge post count and assume that they know what they're talking about. They'll then focus on the posts by the people in the list and disregard the rest. Mistake, big mistake, huge. It's just like taking a tip on a stock or using a signal service; it rarely works. It's much better to do your own research and decide for yourself who talks sense and who doesn't rather than to rely upon the impressions of another member.
Tim.

I only included people who I think are the real deal and from my own experience. I may have missed many more.

I gave reason for why I made my decisions Timsk. I wasn't making a list of who's who just who I personally give the benefit of the doubt and I asked for discussion on the subject.
Better for people to have an idea of who to listen to than to give money to Depth Trade/Wasp and bring more controversy no?

Or are popcorn threads the breadmakers? :cheesy:

i think its pretty unfortunate that you have tarred Wasp with the same brush as DT...he hasn't stolen anything yet so the jury is still out and i would say that his old threads are actually pretty good...

It is definitely a minefield for newbies, i remember being "enamored" with TD skillz when i was new...is extremely difficult to say who to trust...but i would add that there are some helpful/profitable/successful/whatever people here and not everyone is full of ****...

I'm not tarring wasp at all. I don't personally know the guy or depth trade past their online personas(-e? lol) and he could have turned £10k into £500k but fact is there is a controversy involving funds from members that's all I was saying.

Not good for confidence is it lol. When I first joined I listened to Spanish89.

Good post cr6196, and a perfect example of exactly what I was trying to say. TF - you're as entitled to your views as anyone else but, as has been demonstrated, they are likely to be different to those of other members. I'm NOT getting at you personally - I assure you. Exactly the same principle would apply to me if I posted a list of people who I think are good and worth listening to. I won't do it for the same reason. My opinion is immaterial in the overall scheme of things. Occasionally, I receive PM's asking for my views on a specific member and I'm happy to offer them - but always with the caveat that the views expressed are mine alone and someone else's views (e.g. yours) will be completely different.
Tim.

get spillin masky.

I could tell you, but then i'd have to kill you.

But either way, these people choose to not stand in the spotlight and have their reasons for it so it's not for me to draw attention to it. Just remember those who shout loudest aren't always the right ones. Sometimes there's a bunch of wise people standing in the corner laughing knowingly.
