Hi

Can anyone pls direct me on where i would be able to get 'audio/alarm' mobile phone alerts on the futures instruments?

I primarily trade the emini sp500, and alot of my positions are entered/closed during 2am - 7am !

I need some gadget where if the emini futures contract trades at a predefined level (set by me) during the asian hours or whenever, i be notified by some hench alarm or something (im a heavly sleeper sometimes)

Im aware alerts can be set on the trading platforms but they dont go on for long enough to wake me up, and more importantly i will not be at home for next couple weeks thus no workstations at home.

Mobile phone alerts or anything?

safe

im not spread betting, its dma futures

anyways im not sure sms would wake me up at 3am and ive tried out alerts on platforms before they all shyt - i need a ''alarm'' - u know like those clock ringing things that wake u up and u feel like breaking it once it goes off

Didn't say use IG for spreadbetting, I'm saying use it for the alerts.

Price is price. Set your alert for the price. Set your mobile phone text messaging to go off every minute at least. Set your ring tone to an annoying song. Easy.

If you google for a query on t2w or ff it should produce some results.

if you have a service delivering alerts by email, you can open a gmail account, set a filter to forward the alert to a textmagic.com account which will forward the message to your mobile. It works quite well although it sounds a bit roundaboutish, within 10 seconds you get the message... but first make sure that your mobile provider can be reached by textmagic, for instance I have Lebara in Holland and it doesn't get the text messages; vodafone Uk is ok.

I read in another thread someone talking about a megaphone setup or something. That would wake you up wouldn't it...a megaphone?

ye i just realised i can have a whole song play for a text messge - pretty good, that should work

Problem with IG is they don't do futures prices...the're products are likely to trade off some ticks during asian hours as they make markets ... just need a DMA futures broker now with sms alerts...

Use FXPros platform.

You can set alerts that will beep constantly when a price is traded.

Lose the girlfriend.

Get into bed with your laptop.

Turn your speakers up.

Leave the case open so you can take quick action and don't need to power it up in the middle of the night.

Wake up in the morning with a sun tan feeling like a bag of sh*t.

Welcome to my world.

sounds gd, i never knew fxpro did CFD futures

their EMini sp500 (EP) is a CFD follower of the emini futures ES, fro your experiance can you tell me how closely this follows the real futures ES? especially during asian hours 11pm - 7am?

thnx

My 2 cents

In the past I have been criticised for apparently making trading sound much more difficult than it actually is, whatever that means. Then you have the philosophy of those who trade larger ‘timeframes’ so that they are not enslaved by trading because they find sitting in front of a computer for several hours per day “soul destroying”.

Well, I can proudly and happily say that I enjoy sitting in front of my computer for more than several hours/day when it is time to trade. Because when it is time to eat, I eat and enjoy my meal, when it is time to practice piano, I practice piano and take pleasure in learning and improving my technique and musicality, when it is time for the gym, I enjoy my workout and steam room and sauna sessions and when it is time to sleep, I sleep well and relax and have pleasant dreams. I do not need some gizmo fantastico waking me up with “IT’S TIME TO TRADE...DING...DONG....IT’S TIME TO TRADE....RINGGGGGG....BOING...BOING....LOOK AT YOUR SCREEN......EEEAWWW....etc”

I suppose my reward for study and practice is efficient trading. There is more than enough money in one instrument to pay for everything you could ever want or need. You don’t need to be busy all the time and looking at 100 different instruments fretting about missing a set-up. After reading this thread I know I have taken the right and sensible route.

And there you have it!

But how do you pick just one market when they are all so great?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tom,

Contrary to what some people may think, you know i respect you as a trader. No market is great, but all markets offer great oppotunities at certain times. But as NT has stated, one market can be enough.

I agree. Most of the traders I worked with that did well, looked at one market mainly. My problem is that with my style of trading, one market just wouldn't offer enough "setups".

Still, I am cutting my markets down, slowly. I'm using my stats at the end of each quarter to eliminate my worst performers.
