Does anyone know where I could find a platform to bet on UK House Prices by June 2010? I've looked around but it seems to be an area where not many bookies or exchanges offer a price..any idea why not? - seems that everyone has an opinion but nowhere to trade it..

If anybody spots one...

Hello Mike,

What would be your punt? up/down by X amount?

You might get someone else on here to take the other side of your bet ...

IG were doing it at one point although they may have stopped by now.

The world's worst house price market can be found on betfair... 681% overround, a bargain!

My ideal would be to be able to bet that the June 2010 House Price Index will be between, say, £150,000 and £160,000 - ie up a bit from here - I'd like to get decent odds on that happening though..

I'll write you between 150 000 and 160 000 @ 3-1 if you want

Edit: Depends on stake!

Whenever I looked at betting on house prices at IG, even when the market was going steadily upwards fairly predictably, I didn't really see a way of making money out of it. Can't remember the details now, but it wasn't the safe bet you'd imagine, somehow. I'd think it would be even more uncertain now. I will be interested to hear if anyone has a different experience.

yep 2010

3:1 not bad - so a £100 bet would return me £400 right?

price again for Jun 2010 - I'll have a think ;-)

I think 3:10 is more logical for June 2010... the chances are better than even it will be in that region.

do you think there will be bookies out there that would make regular prices and if so do you think that these sorts of bets would be popular?

No clue.. if you wanted to put a very large stake on most bookies have a "high rollers" service who will do bespoke bets...

I think Arabianights is giving you decent odds on ur punt, better than the bookies.

I did a large property price bet for the Irish market back in May '07, best trade ever!
