you had 2 opened position, for eg: one buy position at 1.4000 and another sell position at 1.3000, how do you get out from that with profit?

Buy GBP USD at 1.4000

Sell EUR USD at 1.3000

close both when in profit....

if you've sold cable at 1.3000 and bought it back at 1.4000 you've lost money......end of story.

( i do hope this isn't another one of your bizzare "hedging" strategies)

"you had 2 opened position, for eg: one buy position at 1.4000 and another sell position at 1.3000, how do you get out from that with profit?"

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to open such a trade.

The answer depends how much time you have, how deep your pockets, how much margin.
I assume the position sizes are the same and not hedged with currency options and were opened at the same time.

What is it that you have positions in? Is it as ForeDog suggested, and you are in EURGBP from 0.9286?

let me rephrase the question again.

you're stucked with 2 opened position. EUR/USD pair only.

1 buy position opened at 1.4000 and 1 sell position opened at 1.3000, how do you get out from it with profit?

You've it! "try to trade a million times, and not ON one single trade to make profit"

err... you are already out with a loss...

need more detail, your mouth not open wide enough.. :p

i asked how to get out with profit, not already out.

all you're asking is how to make 1000 pips trading forex.

The answer is to be your market maker.

IF you buy a BMW for £14000 and sell it for £13000 do you make a profit?

No

So how mad do ou have to be to believe that doing the same in FX will result in a profit?

nope.. this is the real million dollars question. you see the "X"? it is the zone you can choose to buy or sell to make the previous 2 opened buy and sell position INTO PROFIT.

*Profit here i means equity is more than acc balance. for eg: if 3 losing position but with 1 big winning position, its profit and you can close all position and get out with profit. "get out with profit" means you add some more trade in some X zone and once market move your trade profile would be more win than lose position. therefore can get out with profit.

But the other one will result in an identical loss.

I must be thick please explain to me how:

buy 1 lot at 1.4000 sell at 1.3500 net loss 50 pips

sell 1 lot at 1.3000 buy at 1.3500 net loss 50 pips

Where's the profit?

An example of hedging

Buy Rio.l as you think it will go up and is also bid target

Sell BLT.l (billiton) as they are also a miner so if the market falls this should partly offset the loss from Rio. If the market rises then BLT will show a loss but you believe that RIO wil rise faster so make more money than this loss.
