Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone can recommend a broker/sb company who do micro lots for fx trading? Learning the game and don't want to risk too much! Any advice appreciated.

Hi Berti. Instead of putting cash on the table to learn the FOREX I'd suggest that you grab one of the FREE DEMO accounts to learn how to trade.

CMSFX has a really good free $50,000USD DEMO account. I use their platform because it's pretty easy to get around.

Just a note: I'm not affiliated with CMSFX but I like their service.

There are a lot of different trading platforms out there. Metatader4 is one of the popular ones. Just be careful which broker you sign on with. Make sure they have some regulatory body that keeps tabs on them. A lot of them are the so called boiler room scammers and don't blink an eye when stealing you blind.

Good luck and good trading

Indeed. Alpari is regulated by the FSA in the UK and do demo accounts. Gonna check out CMS, though. Always good to see what else is out there.

Hi shadow. I just watched the video you posted. SAD!

The terrible part about all that is that the poor soul is not the only one that gets caught in those sink holes.

There are a few things a trader can do to lessen that type of disaster. Take out opposing options as a hedge for instance.

I had a trading friend about 8 years ago that took a dive off of an overpass on the freeway because he didn't cover his butt with an option blanket in unleaded gas.

One of the way I cover myself is I don't hold anything overnight or the weekends.
I also don't try to make my overnight fortune either. :innocent:

Trading without a complete trading plan is just this side of dumb.

Maybe others here in the forum will take a look at the video and pay heed to what can happen if you don't cover your butt. (y)

Good trading

Demo with fxcm

Hi Guys,

FXCM have a wonderful micro division now that lets you trade in micro lots. Its only currently available in USD based accounts and you can deposit with a debit card. Their platform is so simple and intuitive that you can concentrate on the trading and not the software.

I have an account with them but i havn't deposited any funds yet but I prefer to use a variety of brokers platforms to get the most out of technical analysis.

Trading is more about money management than anything else so opening a micro lot account is an excellent way to get your feet wet and allows you to avoid getting whipsawed to death on illiquid currency pairs. Like the GBP/USD which sees some serious price movements on both hourly and daily.

yeah that can easily happen if you are an idiot, but how can we be sure that is real money,

i mean why would you post it.

anyway find a broker that is well capitalised, preferably in the top 5, there was a post on elitetrader that listed the net adjusted capital requirements for FX brokers,

choose one from the list

Forums - Unregistered FX IB’s out and 20million cap FX FCM in

otherwise i would suggest you definately open a micro account with very little money, which you should expect to lose, to at least have something on the line and get some experience with the emotional aspects of trading.

good luck
