Anybody else getting bugged by that new advertisemnet at the top of the page constantly opening and yaggling away at you if you come even close to it with your mouse...

I mean I realise that Sharky makes his money through advertising, BUT pull marketing that does not annoy you is ALWAYS more effective than obtrusive, in your face push marketing.

Gotta laugh, as I saw your thread I went to click on it and almost signed up to the ad you mention. If its pay per click this site must be making a fortune.

Ad....starting to grate.

I believe its what they call "in your face advertising". A bit like when you see a sportsman being interviewed on the telly and they've got every logo going sewn onto their jumper, baseball cap, trousers, bag etc. so that they look like a cross between a patchwork quilt and a cabbage patch doll.

I keep my PC sound off & just turn it on in the unlikely event of there being something worthwhile.

But that ad is a pain even in silent movie version (n)

Perhaps we can have one of those report a post flags on adverts.

I find the advert intensely annoying. There have been quite a few complaints already on another thread, but still the ad is there IN YOUR FACE.

When are you all going to start using Firefox with Adblock Plus and be rid of this once and for all ?

Paul

Nice idea!
Cheers.

Although the little fecker does keep re-appearing in a slightly different form with a slightly difffernt url.Still, at the moment it remains silent. Long may it continue!

Good point.

The huge increase in the 'in yer face' advertising on this site is actually going to have a negative effect on revenue and members. The last thing a trader wants who spends much of his day looking at flickering screens anyway is to go to a site which has even more flashing images and people trying to flog you stuff you know is crap and would never consider buying anyway.

If a flashing banner offered me THE HOLY GRAIL ON A STICK I wouldn't buy it, but I know what I'd do with the stick.

Bit like trying to watch a mini-series on the box with 5 mins ads every 10 mins.
You end up turning off and waiting for the DVD to come out.

Firefox + Adblock plus has saved me from so many annoying ads. Anyone who is slightly interested I suggest give it a shot.

Effectively, a sell-out.

I'd say the advert in question is more like the sportsman turning up on your doorstep and slapping you in the face while shouting about the merits of whatever products are being promoted.

Thanks Paul. I'm already using FF but did not know about Adblock Plus. Now installed. Much better.
