Good day:

I am a newbie. And put out the following fact-- NASA has announced that an asteroid ,with dimensions 200'x50', has a 1 nn 2 probability of striking the earth o
January 29, 2008. ( A scientist said that the forco of impact would be adoutmillion tons of TNT). If this occurs, it will probably strike in the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans.

Since the big losers would be thelarge insurance carriers, buying puts in this industrymay be a great play.
Good luck!

Sincerely
Bhairava

Not if you live in the area it lands and it is incredible that no news reports have covered this at all so thanks for letting us know this as a world first.

No it really is true! My neighbours parrot was talking about it non-stop yesterday. Had to rubber band it's beak just to shut it up. :cheesy:

This parrot is so clever it then started tapping it's beak onto the TV screen in morse code. No kidding.

I'll be betting my pension on puts tomorrow as soon as I can liquidate and transfer all my assets.

Cheers Bhairava, I don't care what anyone says about you mate you're one clever dude...(y)

Hello,

Sorry about the misspellings. Also, the force is estimated at 1500 million tons of TNT. I just learned this information this weekend, on the Coast to Coast AM radio show(coasttocoastam.com), as part of George Nory's commentary. Supposedly, NASA said that the guestimate of a 50% probability was based on the asteroid's erratic path,
for which they could not be account.

You can bet that the politicos and the wealthy are in their bunkers.

Last time this happened all the dinosaurs died! Anyway, I saw Elvis at the supermarket this evening so I'm too excited to concentrate on tips. But thanks all the same.

These fellas looks a good bet!Manufacturers Warranty "Its your life and your worth it!"

Actually, I heard this on the news... but I was half asleep so wasn't paying attention.

There have actually been a few reports about this. However the probability of it hitting land are extremely small... if I were you I would continue with your life and worry more about the next buy/sell signal...

It will come within 334,000 miles of Earth - just 1.4 times the distance to the Moon - at 8.33am GMT tomorrow.
334k miles is quite some distance.

If push comes to shove I am sure they will send Bruce Willis up there to blow the thing out of the sky.

No worries.

The approaching asteroids include D’Artagnon, Athos, Aramis and a long-period comet called Porthos.

Is it possible that these are the asteroids that threaten humans and the world we know according to the esteem member? Just as you think you have seen and heard it all........ For those of a curious nature or anyone who has time to spare; the following link confirms a clear and present danger as perceived by eminent scientists employed at the taxpayers' expense.

Hello,

based on the asteroid's erratic path,

Hahaha. This asteroid must have rocket motors to steer it erratically.

Or perhaps it's the earth's gravity which is fluctuating which is changing the asteroids path. If that's happening then we better worry about the worlds buildings as they might collapse under the constantly changing strain. So perhaps insurance companies are a good buy after all.

I love the talk about mamoth asteroids - you'll need a 7.6in telescope just to see it at it's closest approach.

I am still here and a bit disappointed. My PnL is down today so total oblivion would have been preferable!!!
Thanks for nothing.
