Has anyone used this indicator ?

I am trying to set it up. I am setting 26 for the slow moving average. 12 for the fast moving average. and 9 for the signal line.

There is a pair of lines for the first two, ie 26 and 12, but no line for this signal line.

So, I'm not sure what this line is .

Elsewhere I read the The signal line is the exponential average of the macd ?

Surely someone must know.

Thanks in advance.

There's only two lines on a MACD; One is the MACD and the other is the signal. The MACD line represents the difference between a slow EMA and a fast EMA of the price. The signal is indeed an EMA of the MACD as you have read. I have used the indicator in the past to help me visualize market structure, but I've never used it to trade off.

Thanks for this cbrads.

But if the 26 is the slow moving average line, and the 12 the fast moving average line, and the 9 signal line / ema of the macd. Then were is this other line?

Is it the intercept of the 26 and 12 lines ?

The slow and fast moving EMAs are represented on the MACD by a single line, it's calculated by subtracting the value of the fast EMA from the slow EMA. The signal line is an EMA of the value of the fast EMA minus the slow EMA. So just two lines

Thanks for that Cbrads. I shall try to get by head around that.... Doh..

Are there any new and exciting indicators that anyone has come across would like to share?

I scour a few popular forex sites, and there is a lot of sharing going on but never took time to evaluate most of them. A few I have, but couldn't see usefullness in those that i did plot.

Any decent ones out there?? There must be a few, in a fashion similar to successful algos crunching #'s

I wouldn't describe Keltner Channels as new or exciting but they are the only indicators I use these days (apart from EMAs).

Do you use it like Bollinger Bands to show possible overbought and oversold price?

Do you use it in the traditional sense that I could find on inet, or ...something you worked out?

More something I worked out, for example I need to recalibrate it several times a session to reflect changing market conditions

Hi there
Just to add my advice its 5ema 18ema and 62 ema ...and when trading always make sure the candle is close to the 5 ema....
When the 18 and 62 crossover it's another good move to sell or buy ..put then on your charts and see if they suit you
