We are all on here for one reason, and that's to learn to make money! But no one seems to actually put into words how much they are actually making! Maybe we are all losing money but no one will admit it, that's probably why you are on this site???

Will anyone be daring enough to actually tell us what you made this week/month/ year or since you started trading??

Good thread.I have been asking the same question since i joined and i have never received an answer yet mate.I have an interest in finance and have been trading and watching the markets for about 17yrs.
I also like poker but have lost a small amount online.I only play face to face now and usually do well.
I traded stocks initially and then moved onto spreadbetting.I had various methods etc but gave up after a few yrs as i was a realist lol.i amazingly finished UP.If you are going to trade i would suggest starting very small mate.Best of luck and i hope you get an answer.

I made around 200 euro since september. Still trading with smallest size lot possible though as Im not yet 100% convinced of my system and probably still have some lessons to learn. I also dont do that many trades, usually 4-5 per month.

I, personally, view how much money I make off Forex as a private thing. The same goes for the occasional losses. We all profit and we all lose money from time to time, the exact sums are, in my opinion, not something that needs to be shared in public. I'm more interested in sharing knowledge and ways to profit more.

Your nic and only 2 posts from 2010 give the game away mate ;-)

Would you work full time at any job or trade if you did not make money ??

Do you ask your Dentist or local shop keeper or your bin man every year - How much are you earning ??

If you do - hopefully they tell you to go and play on the motorway ;-))

PS - please tell me how much you have got in your bank account - its good to share

but even if you did believe someones claims here - what is the point of the exercise ?

they wont share their system with you in detail and even if they did share a % of it (as some do) - the holy grail is not the system .......its as much the person who is hard wired into the system after years of research , practice and effort ........

so whats the point of the exercise ? :smart:

I agree. How much each one of us makes is a very personal thing. Only Nosy Parkers want to know and, in any case, most of the time it will be a pack of lies.

Why would you even bother coming onto this thread if you are just going to bash the original poster?

It is so like you to be evasive. @i8uguys has good point. He is pointing out there are apparently too many fantasy island trading journals where nobody is posting proof of any trading activity.

I read @timsk's sticky thread about how to write a trading journal and very few people come close.

The only thread where I see people posting entry times, lot or share sizes, the exact financial instrument and P&L is @Quest2016, @DrSafari and myself.

If how much money you make or lose so private, then why does that person even have a trading journal? That is like writing a book and never publishing it. A Book that is not published is not a book, it is a diary.

For the most part, most trading journals are not for posting trading activity, but for creating private cliques to give each other high-fives.

listing the day and time of the trade, entry and exit prices, long or short, size (i.e. number of shares or contracts etc.), stops and targets, number of points made / lost, commissions and net P&L. From this information, a trader can work out the two most important ratios critical for trading success. The first is the size of the average winning trade Vs the size of the average losing trade, this is called the 'Profit Ratio'. The second is the number of winning trades Vs the number of losing trades, this is called the 'Success Ratio' or win:loss ratio. Traders who are diligent and methodical in maintaining their journal will be rewarded for their efforts by the journal itself.

Trading not a fixed income.

Motivation for other traders.

Inspire other traders to step up the mark to another level.
@NVP results were great to see.
Don't know why he is down about them.

The secret to anything is to realise you never stop learning .......if you ever believe you have achieved trading nirvana the markets will then mercilessly punish you ........ask ltcm.......:smart:

I have shared. more of my performance information with some private emails I received and the feedback was meant to inspire the people, involved ......but on the wider spectrum of forums like this it does invite the usual spread,of negative comments

I am not in the league of pro traders ......I don't get the time these days to put the hours in......but it surprises me how many traders following these forums cannot believe the success that can be achieved from years of hard work and effort to achieve a personal trading edge......

Christ if people didn't truly make money why the hell would they still be involved and sacrificing so,much time here at t2win ?

Surely they would go get a life ?

Cheers

I think the use of the word journal by the forum is,the Semantc issue here .....as,you say a true journal should only be used by the individual and trusted mentor ......there are absolutely no true journals on t2win if you have ever been coached or understand what true coaching is :smart:

Most people are losing, some are quietly making and others are giving it the big 'un and claiming all kinds of crazy shazzle. Gonna rev up a journal so you can see the warts n all affair I has with the markets.

Loaded, broke, loaded, broke etc ect tec ect.

Up year to date, up overall, up this week and down yesterday!!!

It's been a torrid old affair and would suggest to anyone not 2 BOVVA. Ima headcase THOUGH AND LOVE IT:)

The most important element in a trading journal is the live part for entries/exits otherwise its - somewhat - useless .

I agree its better to add the size of trades but it is not necessarily , no one can argue it is still a personal info and some of family members or real life friends may be lurking the forum .

Another note here : adding the size of trades in a trading journal without showing the size of account is meaningless .

One member (an expert trader) has 50 points daily target. If I'm not mistaken he trades 10 lots at least. For eurusd that's $100 per point, or $5000 his daily target.

Mind you, he says he often makes more than 50 points per day and I don't know - maybe he trades more than 10 lots?

So weekly $5,000 x 5 = $25,000

Yearly (assuming he trades maybe 40 weeks a year): £25,000 x 40 = $1,000,000 (at least)
