I am creating this thread because I wanted to know what markets people are interested and/or are currently trading?

I am interested in US market because as you can see, there are lots of opportunity and high demand in US. So if you are thinking of investing or owning a business US is the best start.

I think all the markets are important and if you watch the international markets....by the time the U.S wakes up if often follows what has happened in Europe, China and Japan.

They are all important but, I got my hands full keeping track of what goes on in the U.S. :)

I do not necessarily agree that the U.S follows the Asian markets. I trade the Tokyo markets and several times a certain sector or the entire market will have an incredible day there followed by a terrible day here. I think the Asian markets have more of an inverse relationship with us than the European markets do.

I have even noticed the European markets to be divided. When the DKK, SEK, NOK is strong, many times the GBP is weak.

I may be misunderstanding what you mean by "follow".

I guess I meant follow differently than you.......lol.

I check CNN to see how the international markets are doing before I go to bed, 2,3 times a week. I am not involved in trading as deeply as you. It was just a casual observation.

I like to see what China / Shanghai is doing. They routinely move up and down 2,3 percent. It must be great to be a trader there, it must be exciting.

I am not actually a trader in Japan. I just trade financial instruments in those markets. I have recently become interested in the Hong Kong markets because I do not have to worry about currency fluctuations with the HKD.

@zxtul and @zaysev36

Which financial asset classes in Japan do you trade or are interested in?

Interesting. That's my hunting ground. You realise though that most companies listed in Hong Kong are Chinese rather than HK domestic and so you risk the translation effect of RMB, even if quoted in HKD?

I've given up on financial markets. Too many outside factors.

I taken my money out my spread betting accounts and started trading pre race odds on betfair.

No bollox, No ECB talking ****e, No bankers/hedge funds manipulating the market. No crappy news releases.

Just pure price, volume, and market depth.

18 races a day, and you can quite easily make £10-£15 per race with a bank of around 2k. I've made £600 this week.

I'm done with financial spread betting, where all you get is price and a chart to try and make sense of whats going on.

While on betfair you get price, volume and market depth. And no bull****.

I'll return to finance one day, when i have time to trade proper futures on the ladder were again i can see the depth of the market and the volume of the maket.

I'm done with spread betting and their fancy charts.

MODS: Can we have a sports trading forum please???

In relation t the OP: I was trading the DAX. But i've found it impossible this year. Migrant Crisis, EBC ******s, Brexit, Oil tanking. Its just too unstable. Now we've got more QE and another interest rate cut??? Its getting rediculous. I give the EU 2 years at most before it does a soviet union As for forex, we all know its rigged.

18*£12.50*4=£900

Was a couple of races rigged, or just jockeys having a bet?

How do you say markets are rigged and horse racing is better lol?

If your bank is £2k of course you will find it hard and if you use too much leverage and it swings then you will lose.

If £150 a day is worth your time and brag boasting then well done to you. I heard there are many jobs paying that and some.

It doesn't matter if the race is rigged. I'm trading the pre race odds movements. I'm out the market 60 seconds before the race goes off hopefully with a green book. Whoever wins the race is irrelevant, so race ringing insist a problem.

I'm not sure what you mean about leverage? Betfair doesn't allow leverage. You have to have the money in your account.

If I back a horse and it drifts. I'll trade out when the loss hits £25. Thats a 1.25% risk per trade.

how does this all work FFSear?

BAck high, Lay low

Shows how its done here. You need to pay for 3rd party software, you can't bet on the site this way. I use bet angle which only costs £6 month!

Ignore the tag line "makes £1,024 free bet" Thats not what its about. Yes he would have won that if the Horse he traded won the race. But whats he's doing, is taking that position and placing smaller bets on all the other horse in the race (the program actually does this automatically for you with the click of one button, it called "Greening up") So he's covers every outcome in the race. So he actually makes about £130 in that vid.

Hi ffsear,
I'm glad to hear you've found a market to trade that you like and can profit from. The skeptic in me says it can't be quite so straightforward as your posts imply - otherwise everyone would be doing it. And if it really is that much easier than other markets, then my advice is to ramp up your stakes and make hay while the sun shines - because I suspect it won't shine for very long!
;-)

I think you are very harsh. How can it possibly go wrong, risking £25 to win £12.50 and getting a 50% return every week on your money all aided by a program that costs £6 a month aimed to bring more people to a pool that is not bottomless?

I am pretty sure that compounded he will soon stop posting and be living in Monaco.

The difference between gambling and investing

Speculative Risk: Three possible outcomes exist in speculative risk: something good (gain), something bad (loss) or nothing (staying even). Gambling and investing in the stock market are two examples of speculative risks. Each offers a chance to make money, lose money or walk away even. Again, do not equate gambling and investing on any other level than as both being a speculative risk. Gambling is designed to enrich one party (the house); the odds are always in its favor. Investing is designed to enrich all involved, the house that set up the “game” AND those that chose to place money in the game – all participants with “skin in the game” win or lose together. Speculative risk is not insurable in the traditional insurance market; there are other means to hedge speculative risk such as diversification and derivatives.
