You all must have seen these 'flyers', for want of a better word. Secrets eh! What is that all about? I really am laughing writing this one! They are going to sell you a secret!.......... It better be a good one! Question?......Is it only two bit traders that sell the obvious (i may start!),or do the 'big boys' sell thier knowledge also? You know where i am comming from! There must be a 'big' niche on the market. Don't get me wrong, tuition could be considered different. But cheesy flyers blow my mind away! RB.

For somebody to set up such a 'thing', is quite predortary, to say the least. They make me laugh, but, on the otherhand i actually respect them for thier ruthlesness. They come across all 'friendly' and 'profitable', but 'double glazing' salesmen do that, and nobody likes them! BEWARE! If you can? RB.

FC, i have now had my methadone. I will not be so irate?..........Rrrrr...............Beeeeeee!

i dont buy systems as a rule, i try to work them out for myself where possible.

most things can be reverse engineered to a degree.

eg the Trendspotter system looks like something approximating a stochs cross-over, with something resembling a trend following component to keep it in there. perhaps a parabolic SAR? if i could be bothered i could have a bit more of a tinker.

So there was a point to my thread! I never meant it to be a smash 'hit'. It was just a realistic comment(s). RB.

FC, maybe the market(s) can 'rip you off' in more ways than one? Rip off price? You tell me!

If these systems you have are secret and you don't want to discuss them that's fine.
But I am very intrigued by all this backtesting and other machinations.
And how one would go about reverse engineering and all these ideas.
I really am. Any light you can shed on this topic would be very well recieved by many members.
I will tell you in advance that I am only interested from the point of view of
curiosity ~ that is all, pure and simple. I would never consider using a system, ever.

Interesting Soc that the world of trading is becoming more and more mechanised. The knock on effect of this almost certainly being that tops and bottoms get lopped off the moves as the mechanical systems take more and more short term trades. In turn frustrating traders and so on.

If 95% of traders lose ...then why not eliminate them ? The mechanical systems can do no worse surely !!

The markets are ever changing ...."adapt or die" I suspect !

As for long term Investing, well thats just a dead duck from here on in, Shorting is as easy as 1 2 3 these days ........yes I know, that statement will not go down well with "Investors"

Good Trading

CV, good point! Who is 'running' the market at the moment? Computers or humans? Don't forget, computers are 'programmed' by humans! RB.

Don't forget, Kasparov, the greatest chess mind in history was beaten by a computer! Big Blue or something? RB.

Chess is ultimately a game of logic, trading is most definitely not and therefore the association is not comparable in my view.
