Hi,

I'm a big fan of twitter and am intrigued at its use and potential for trading.
I've heard about it being used as an input to algorithmic trading and there are sites
like stocktwits.com that aggregate tweets by ticker, but this one is very US-centric.

Is there a similar service with a focus on UK stocks (or interest in setting one up?) Also UK-based traders who are actively tweeting about their trades or a UK-based news service on twitter, other than the obvious FT/BBC sources. I've found it surprisingly hard to find good people to follow on twitter with a UK focus.

Any pointers much appreciated!

I don't know who you'd follow but you can aggregate numerous twitter feeds in tweetdeck.

Yes, good tip. Tweetdeck is my favourite client. The ability to aggregate numerous feeds without 'commiting' to follow them is a useful one.

Hi mahayes, I definitely think there is mileage in a real time twitter service dedicated to trading. I have not seen anything which is focussed on the UK but a few seem to be doing ok in the US. I can imagine a lot of people signing up to post their own trading ideas and/or refine their thoughts by seeing other people's viewpoints. On the other hand it could be a distraction for some traders and just more noise to try and ignore. I can imagine plenty who would use it however, even if it's just to create a social outlet when not trading.

For the time being I post my own trading ideas on twitter, follow me if you like at http://twitter.com/#!/FTSE100PROFITS. :)

If anyone does know of any sort of service like this in existence then I would be keen to hear about it!
