Hi all,

I'm looking for a trading partner to trade with to bounce ideas off and help keep me to my trading plan.

I have a full time job as an IT Consultant os not looking for someone who trades full time.

I've tried day trading 5 years ago after spending £20k on a training course and ended up with no money. I'm now starting up again with a more mature approach!

Please get in contact if you may be interested.

Thanks
Pete

If someone already knows how to trade, they would have little reason to partner with you. You could well end up with someone who doesn't know how to trade. It then becomes blind leading the blind. Trading is very much every man for himself. If you can't do it by yourself, you might find your 20k training to be rather cheap compared to what you might end up losing. There's no safety in numbers when it comes to the market.

Beginner Joe, I'm not looking for safety in numbers or a beginner to 'follow'. I've been trading for several years on and off including 10 months full time. One thing I learnt was that it would be good to meet up with other traders to keep me motivated and generally make it more fun. Partnering for me isn't about trying to learn from others and I completely disagree that someone that knows how to trade (how do you define this) wouldn't find this useful.

Hi Crazy,
Getting a trading partner would be difficult. Discipline is the key. Work out risk/reward levels with a maximum draw down per trade. Have rules that is tailored to your business model, example need to earn £200 each day or £800 a week ?
Knowing your exit point before entry is my first rule and knowing when to add to positions and when to remove from potions is good practice.
Then take what you know or what you think you know and follow the price of the markets, its like reading the markets and that is the only way to consistently earn from these markets.
Try with market orders, sell at 2points after the high/low of the previous day with a 7pt limit and a 7point stop on OCO orders. This will give an monthly earnings so bills, etc gets paid.
Then there is real trading, this gets complex depending on where we have been and at what point we are to go in the future ?
Yes trading courses are OK but how many have you been on where they trade live scenarios in real trading days ??

If you can make profit then you know how to trade. If you are consistently profitable, that makes you a good trader. So the definition is not hard at all.

If you need motivation from others to trade, perhaps trading isn't quite your thing. Trading is highly competitive. I don't believe you will find the caring and sharing kind all that successful at it. So what you end up with are those who are not.

I think you are better off bouncing ideas off a spouse or even a cat if you have one. But being an IT consultant, perhaps you should use google or the internet more. These are great for bouncing ideas off from as even good traders are sometimes enticed to respond.

£20,000 is a lot to blow on a course, probably the most I've heard of someone spending. Dare I ask which 'guru' you signed up with?

In a course maybe. But who will sell their winning trading complete solution, I mean complete solution, including system, mental, discipline and everything , which proven to make consistent income for £20,000?

At least I won't because thers is no complete solution for trading. I can teach you system, risk management and mental training but you may only learn them all and still lose money because I can't train you to be 100% disciplined which is the most important/challenge aspect in trading.

You can only claim you are 100% in the past or when you retire from trading.

I'd have no trouble selling a winning system at £20k a pop, over and over. It beats trading any day of the week, and there's no risk. People would be banging on my door to beg me to take their 20k.

But the problem is when they don't make money, they will say you are scam. What makes they fail is on their own, discipline.

Systems and methods in trading are simple.

Discipline to follow them is rarely seen.

You would reject a system if it makes your first 5 trades in a row winners and then 3 after them failures or your first 5 trades a failure and your next 3 trades winners.

The money made in winners and lost in failures and the discipline to stick to a plan is what trading and investing is.

Unfortunately most of us do not have that capacity and this is something that is part of human nature.

Your life in the trading world would change the moment you stop thinking about being right or wrong and just manage your money correctly.
