Is it psychology or a having a $hite system or poor money management?

No it’s the wife she is always on my back about trading she says that its boring, a waste of time, it’s just gambling, it’s weird, anti social, etc. She says one day I’ll look back at all the time I’ve wasted

She goes on like this every day it and it gets on my nerves I try to ignore her but sometimes cant.

Does anyone on here have a similar issue with their mrs and does anyone even have a supportive mrs (unlikely).

How do I overcome this obstacle??

Become profitable and give her some money. Honestly, it's the only way.

To honest that probably wont work she is so dead against trading.

I say to her I could b a big football fan and go to every game home and away and never see her at weekends. Her reply is well it will b more interesting than trading.

My wife has been totally supportive in all my ventures/adventures/misadventures...I actually wish (on reflection) she'd have been more critical and more circumspect on some. Overcoming the obstacle? I'm sure there was a good thread re. this a year or so back..

Do you have form for starting a new venture and making it a success? Have you stated in the past that you are absolutely convinced you're onto something and 100% committed to making it work but you need her faith and trust and ultimately it has worked out?

Solutions

1. Divorce her

2. Be honest with her and tell her that includinng the time you have already spent getting to where you are in yout trading journey/career...it will be 5years or more before you begin to make a consistent income from it.At the samed time understand this yourself....get her to sign up to the journey knowing this and only proceed if you are both committed to it and understand this. If not give up now

3. She could be right...and if you/she don't understand/acknowledge no.2 above...give up now and save yourself a lot of time/money.

My wife has also been very supportive which is why I love her. But to be fair I was trading long before we met and married.

Of course being supportive is a 2-way thing. I am very supportive of her spending the profits! LOL, just kidding, she's wonderful!

I'm with BS & Wacky in the fact that my better half has always supported me in everything, I guess we're lucky.

My advice would be to give her a plan... Plan out what you are going to achieve and how you are going to achieve it. Goals must be realistic so that you can meet or exceed them - There is no need to give her an opportunity to say "I told you so"!

If this is something you want and you can show her a way that you can get it then it would be unfair of her to not support you.

You are not paying her enough attention. If you did, perhaps, she might understand that everyone is entitled to his spare time.

As far as giving her money is concerned, she might like it better if you both went out and spent it together.

When do something I put all my effort into it, I aware of this so I make sure we have good quality time. To be fair maybe at the mo I havent been paying her as muck attention as I should so time to take her out.

The thing is that she is dead against trading she tries to suggest other interests/hobbys like on line gaming (funny suggestion).

I give my wife a quarterly report on my trading, with nothing in between. No sense in telling her on any given day that I am 1. up money (next day there's a new handbag in the hallway or 2. down money (that stresses her out).

it's a bit like ninja warrior on the telly

just 1 more obstacle in the way

will you punch her in the mouth or try something subtle ?

:whistling

How do I overcome this obstacle??

Sometimes, I'd tell the missus how much I'd made for the day and sometimes I'd keep quiet.

On the quiet days, she'd suss out I'd lost money and was slightly sarcastic.

At other times, she'd laugh at the $60 or $70 I'd be making a day with small position sizes and say that my target of $2k was not getting any closer.

Now - I did take offence at this but I thought about it and she really didn't know any better. I told her about not wanting to blow my trading capital, I told her about increasing position sizes but most importantly I told her I needed her total, unwavering support.

After a chat about how much I needed her support, she gave it completely and then that gave me 1 less thing to worry about. I can't say whether it was or was not affecting my performance but it certainly made life a lot easier.

On my side, I did promise to cut down the time I spent on research at the weekends and weekday out of market hours and it's quite possible this made more difference than her support.
