Vote Labour

And look where voting Labour got us all ! (n)
Time for a different bunch of self-interested charlatans to rule us incompetently (n)

Time for a complete reform of Parliament for a kick-off. Yesterday's article by Geoffrey Wheatcroft in the Grauniad was a good start:

Now more than ever, Britain needs the last Chartist reform | Geoffrey Wheatcroft | Comment is free | The Guardian

To which I would add: an (annually) elected upper house based on non-party lines.
Election/party spending/donations of all types severely curtailed.

Whips' offices emasculated (in a metaphorical sense, but literally would be fine in addition).

To which I would add: an (annually) elected upper house based on non-party lines.

Nothing would ever get done or agreed if this was the case in my view.

House Of Lords

In my oinion any reform of the house of lords is motivated by anti class socialist principles.
Reform is only likely to result in a copy of the commons so there is not much point that I can see exceptto take away what is seen by some as 'privilege'.
If some focus was shifted from class principals and put on the benefits derived from tthe HoL, and the contributions made by many of its members (not all I know, and especially not unelected ministers) to various specialist fields, then I think there's be a better appreciation of it. Also, despite the expenses fiasco we get the HoL on the cheap.

As for voting Labour ---well they like minorities so as thats what Labour voters will become, you'll be well in with them.

"To which I would add: an (annually) elected upper house based on non-party lines. "

I would imagine the electoral turnout for an annually elected "upper" house would be under 10%.

Better to concentrate on a system where the "retirement" of the government party leader, i.e.the Prime MInister, had to be followed by a general election within three months.
Otherwise we could end up with an unelected and unstable incompetent PM who cannot be removed and with zero legitimacy, even when compared with Karzai............someone who in the depths of his insanity and megalomania thinks he has saved the world from financial melt-down......and will soon turn back climate change single-handedly.........

Yeah right! It's a bit like that play isn't it? The loathsome Hain was on world at One this pm trotting out the party line. We did the whole round robin: Lehman Bros & Northern Rock, but forgot to mention the Scottish banks..... bet the members at LloydsTSB smiled sheepishly.....

Rant ends...

So it was you who nicked those pills from Gordon Brown !
Shame on you.
You don't need them
He does.
Badly.

Best wishes,
Richard

...Any party that will ignore the minorities will lose elections....

...No party can ignore the might of Asians....Even Cameron hosted Diwali Party at his Headquarters - first time in Conservative Party's history - purely to - if it is the right word to use - suck up...

Zambuck,
I'm just making the point that Lab voters are a dying breed.

The problem is that some Labour voters turn to the nazi filth in protest at Labour's failures and because they want to blame immigrants for their problems.

I agree with charts. Blame the foreigners. It's easier than accepting that a bunch of English (if you're a countryman lol) fa gs own you, take your wages, charge you extortionate taxes elsewhere and then spend what they don't grossly mis-managing on cocaine, opiates, whores, houses and self-benefiting brown envelope deals. Who says the empire is dead? Seems to me it's just turned corporate.
