Absolutely magnificent!

Text:

Prime Minister, I see you’ve already mastered the essential craft of this Parliament – that being to say one thing in this chamber, and a very different thing to your home electorate. You’ve spoken here about free trade, and amen to that; who would have guessed, listening to you just now, that you were the author of the phrase ‘British Jobs for British Workers’, and that you have subsidised – where you have not nationalised outright – swathes of our economy, including the car industry and many of the banks.

Perhaps you would have more moral authority in this house if your actions matched your words. Perhaps you would have more legitimacy in the councils of the world if the United Kingdom were not going into this recession in the worst condition of any G20 country.

The truth, Prime Minister, is that you have run out of our money. The country as a whole is now in negative equity. Every British child is born owing around £20,000. Servicing the interest on that debt is going to cost more than educating the child.

Now once again today you tried to spread the blame around, you spoke about an international recession; an international crisis. Well, it is true that we are all sailing together into the squall – but not every vessel in the convoy is in the same dilapidated condition. Other ships used the good years to caulk their hulls and clear up their rigging – in other words, to pay off debt – but you used the good years to raise borrowing yet further. As a consequence, under your captaincy, our hull is pressed deep into the water line, under the accumulated weight of your debt. We are now running a deficit that touches almost 10% of GDP – an unbelievable figure. More than pakistan, more than Hungary – countries where the IMF has already been called in.

Now, it’s not that you’re not apologising – like everyone else, I’ve long accepted that you’re pathologically incapable of these things – it’s that you’re carrying on, wilfully worsening the situation, wantonly spending what little we have left. Last year, in the last twelve months, 125,000 private sector jobs have been lost – and yet you’ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister you cannot go on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecedented engorging of the unproductive bit.

You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt. And when you repeat, in that wooden and perfunctory way, that our situation is better than others, that we’re well place to weather the storm, I have to tell you, you sound like a Brezhnev-era Apparatchik giving the party line. You know, and we know, and you know that we know that it’s nonsense. Everyone knows that Britain is the worst placed to go into these hard times. The IMF has said so. The European Commission has said so. The markets have said so, which is why our currency has devalued by 30% – and soon the voters, too, will get their chance to say so.

They can see what the markets have already seen: that you are a devalued Prime Minister, of a devalued Government.

Since Merve put the boot in yesterday (BBC NEWS | Business | Mervyn King calls for caution) it's only a matter of time surely, until your average Sun Reader gets wised-up to what Gordo's been up to for all these years and decides he's out at the next election - I presume that presently, our glorious leader thinks that we aren't trustworthy enough to have one?

I am right aren't I? Someone please tell me I'm right....... the thought of this particular bunch of incompetents being in charge for another 5 years is just too much for me .................

Gordo only seems to (1) spend time strutting the world stage talking **&*%$** or (2) locking himself in his bunker and putting out a different story for home consumption.

This is just like the dying days of the Major Government - why don't they do the decent thing and have an election?

Amazing,Gordon just sits there doodling and laughing, its a shame Mr Hannen at the end did'nt take a run up and kick him in the nuts for a reality check:-0

Guy Fawkes was he all that bad??:sneaky:

When this lot are gone, I hope the corrupt EU gravy train will be next! Wont hold my breath though.

Change the electoral system then. A coalition government wouldn't be able to sit around like this, they'd lose their coalition partners and spark the election. Look at the fun they have in NZ now they've got PR.

In the UK the only people interested in that are the Lib-dems (because it's the only way they'll ever get any power) & I suspect if they ever do get to be in charge they'll retain the present system to squeeze out any upstarts.

Politicians - don't you just love'em ? :LOL::LOL:

Great post arabian. Apparently I can't give you more rep.
I reckon it's one of t2w's Socialist ploys only being allowed one rep from a member no matter how many good posts like these are put up by an individual; a sort of one loaf of bread per person rationing regardless of skill, value, contributions etc. True Communism.

"Video no longer available"
Probably censored by that Stalinist Gordon Brown :)

not sure how that fits in with T2W stated policy of "some being more equal than others", and certainly no equality when it comes to handing out those vendor badges LOL

Good one Arabian.

The funniest thing (if you want a good cry) is that I'm in Australia; and here they keep saying "but out economy is much better than everyone elses in the developed world," and you'd believe it based on jobs not having dropped much and property values being down less than 10% overall.

But your wise man said: Every British child is born owing around £20,000.

Well thats AUD $40,000.

Every Australian baby is born owing AUD $112,000. And our economy is much better than everyone elses. Hmmm ...

Even in the best and most ordered of People's Republics, certain individuals give of themselves only for the benefit of the masses and those individuals who deny their individuality for the betterment of the proletariat must - FOR THE SOLE BENEFIT OF THE LATTER, NOT THEMSELVES - suffer the experiences of better food and drink, Zil lanes, country dachas, and all the shameful accoutrements normally associated with the evil capitalist running dog hyenas of the exploiting class.
Those who wilfully fail to appreciate those sacrifices are banished to re-education centres in remote areas so that they can consider their crimes against the people for the remainder of their unproductive anti-Socialist lives.
Occasionally a Hero of the Revolution might banish himself to his dacha in order to ponder on what is best for the proletariat. This is obviously quite different and for such an individual to be branded in the same way as lesser mortals is totally unacceptable.
Indeed there is much debate in the Duma as to whether such trouble makers should themselves undergo re-education.
Please ponder upon these matters, Comrade zupcon, before it is too late and such revisionists as you are dealt with by the People's natural justice........
