Hey folks!

If I have to use the train 4-5 days per week (return), how can I make it as cheap as possible?

I see that Cambridge to Hitchin is around €13.50 one way, so €27 return!
That's a lot! (€135/5 days!)

Is there something I can do to make this cheaper?
Get a rail card...get a monthly ticket...buy fare the day before?

Thanks in advance!

Nice!
Cheers buddy!

That's £12.70 in total (inc. return)?
And regardless of being peak or off-peak?
(I ask because that's what it looks like, but when I tried to do this myself the other day I was getting more expensive prices)

Also, how does buying online work?
Do I print something out, or do I pick them up at the station?

LOL, Has anyone in the memory of man hitchhiked to work every day? You'd have to set out fairly early

Could go down the moped route, save a fortune ! Or even one of those powered cycles, modify the gearing, he be there before he set off (y)

Thanks for the suggestions :)

Im actually still in Ireland. Been in a state of limbo since the beginning of February (accommodation not ready yet).

I was playing with the idea of heading over next week and staying in a cheap hostel in Cambridge and getting the train to Hitchin for work until my accommodation is ready - end of first week in April hopefully but maybe the 2nd.

For the sake of it being just 2 more weeks, I might just wait it out. Waiting would save me 300/500 bucks or more...

Back in the day I used to set off early for London from Plymouth on a motor cycle plus suitcase. I always found accommodation around the Earls Court area before dark and a job the next day.
As you have a job to go to you are half way there already.

No problems.
