Have you watched dateline on the BBC ?
Just been watching - 1 Russian journalist, 1 American, 1 Arab, 1 Brit. Interesting stuff but as they are all shouting at the same time, so I had to turn it off.

No chance of any lasting and proper agreements.. As America topples one tinpot dictator after another the anarchic situation spreads. The cure The West and now Russia says is more bombing !

No chance of peace.

It's in the human gene. The best thing is to help where you can and live your life.

There hasn't been a lasting peace in the middle east since the old testament bible. Why should we expect peace now?

I don't see any lasting peace for Syria until the current regime has been ended. Meantime, it suits the west (and maybe Russia) to see the regime militarily drained by civil war. The only consolation is Syria becomes less and less able to support aggressive war against neighbours in its region, which just maybe makes us all safer.

Despicable though the dictators like Gadaffi, Saddam etc. were and Assad is they did keep the lid on their more violent and anarchistic subjects. The US rushes in and topples them only to get an even worse situation.

Are they right that to leave ISL alone and fester would be much worse ? I don't know. The USA is pretty hopeless at foreign policy. They stupidly failed to support The League of Nations before WW2 and now are trapped into JFK's failed policies. Living in semi isolation on a separate continent and being pushed by an ignorant electorate of course doesn't make things easy for them. Plus the fact they think in their arrogance they are the only power that counts.

yes well. The Arab was shouting at the rest to just leave them alone ! Maybe that's an answer even if it is a bit feeble.

I don't know I would say the US is hopeless at foreign policy Pat - so many of the regimes that would have been on their threat list have been toppled by internal pressures or weakened by internal strife or removed by invasion. Even losing the Vietnam War wasn't necessarily the disaster we might think.

Others have become very US-dependent to the point of becoming client states.

Its brutal but could sound like an effective projection of neo-imperialist power diplomacy - in very much the Roman / British manner.

When the Russians catch those responsible they will die very slowly and painfully, I expect. None of the Western Christian long term imprisonment sort of rubbish. No lawyers getting fat arguing their cases. But then they deserve what they dish out imho. Good riddance, it's the only thing they respect. Put it on video and send it back.
The sooner it is stamped out firmly the quicker the road to peace.

Die slowly - you mean like in Guantanamo bay without any charges being brought. A lawless Island where no jurisdiction prevails.

No lawyers you say? Indeed!

Also, there is the inference that US did not plan the outcome. You can't be serious? Axis of Evil is working a treat. Iraq is divided and oil easily siphoned away. Without strong government who is going to stop who from doing what?

No sooner Al-Qaida laid to rest we have ISIS formed to free Syria.

Strange coincidence! Wasn't Al-Qaida formed to free Afghanistan from USSR

Russia was helping Afghanistan and putting in social infrastructure before it went pear shape with US stinger missiles supplied mujahadeen taking down helicopters.

Iraq war was utter BS. 9/11 inside job. No WMD's or nuclear weapons. All pack of lies.

US disbanded Iraqi army despite UK advice to maintain Iraqi military which surrendered on assurance it would prevail and be used to put Iraq right again.

Country has been raped and pillaged. More deformed births since the war and deaths due to radio active tipped weapons use.

Russia is not the enemy here. It's the US extending it's influence and as with all super powers it will inevitably over extend before contracting again. No doubt about it. It may take another 100 or 200 years but if the US army ever came up against an organised and well united army US marines have no chance of winning anything the gun toting cowboys that they are.

Just hope it doesn't come to nuclear weapons for those cleaner than White House politicians to save face.

You are, probably, right in your assessment of modern US policy but it saddens me to knock an old ally.

I can remember the years when we were glad to have them around and I still have an old friend who lived, with his wife, in Andorra and because of old age has returned to the US. He must have 10 years on me because he was in the 8th US Airforce, in the UK, during WW2.

In the Pacific they had to take those islands back one by one and the Japanese were not an easy foe.

I really can't understand what ISL think they are achieving by the latest outrage in Paris. So they kill 100+ civilians. Surely they don't think France or any of the Western nations are going to crumble by that sort of attack, do they ?

I suppose this is a blatant warning to the civilised world to crush them before they can get their hands on bigger weapons. While the West fiddles they are trying to ramp up bigger attacks. The evil people behind the radical extremists should be sorted out.
No more turning the other cheek tactics imho.
Who arranges their finances ?
Who supplies them with weapons and explosives ?
Who twists the minds of the morally weak ?

To bring mass public opinion and France into supporting the war to topple Syrian regime backed by Russia.

Has nothing to do with French people or Islam. More to do with US/Russia & Sunni v Shia sectorian struggles in the ME.

Why would ISIL bring down a Russian plane one day and then attack France the next?

What connects the dots?

Russia had recently started bombing ISIL positions and the big debate is for ground troops to go into Syria to topple the regime in the guise of fighting ISIL.

ISIL was originally formed to fight Assad's regime and supplied by the West in arms and bodies.

Any reasonable logical person would think we should all help Assad and the Russians destroy ISIL right? Well then you'd be Wrong!

Yeah I know what you are saying. Our guys wouldn't do anything like this we are the good guys??? This mentality should go in the dream section.

Iraq has been torn and split and now the desired outcome achieved events moved on to Syria.

Iran will be next soon enough for tearing apart.

It'll be interesting to see how Russia responds.

Sadly, many innocent people die in the process.

These are power plays by the West to reshape the ME and knock the Russians IMHO.

Iran is safe, thanks to Russia and it's border, everything else you have written i agree with.........most of the sheeple are asleep to reality.

You are having a bubble...Ye Syria has caused loads of issues....not.

I agree, but Syria is a problem to Israel.

Israel can not expand and is contained by a strong Syria.

Who gets to benefit most if Syria is toppled/hobbled & nobbed?

Israel and Turkey and the Sunni regime.

Who loses?

Russia and Iran.

Again i agree, my comment was in relation to deaths caused by the regimes in Syria, Iraq, Libya etc compared to the carnage now the west, ie America is asset stripping again.

Sort of.

You can replace nobbed with democratised and the meaning will remain the same. As in:

"You will be democratised!" ;)

On the wider issue of movement of peoples. I think events like Paris play into the EU No campaign's hands. Normal citizens watching the news could easily be persuaded that world leaders don't listen to their legitimate concerns.....and that a no vote will force the govt of the day to shut up shop and nobody gets in without border checks.
