Hillary Clinton must be considered as a strong contender for the post of next US President.
She has been in and around the top US jobs and so has a lot of experience.
She might be a voice of sanity amongst the Republican hawks.
First woman US President.

Looking across from this side of the pond one can probably get a more detached view of the political scene and the candidates than if one was actually there. It does affect the Fundamentals as to who is the President. There may be 100,00s of people in the State Dept, CIA, military, various think tanks etc. etc. to help build a foreign policy. However looking back, this mountain of information has been largely ignored and the President's own views have prevailed.

There is always Rhodes Scholar and ex President Bill Clinton to turn to if she feels she needs advice from her husband.

The Republicans have not put forward with much vigour their candidates. So they are largely unknown abroad. But it will take some housework to clear the air from George Bush's efforts.

It is worth checking the bookie's odds

Hillary Clinton 1/10
Jeb Bush 5/2

Well that is pretty clear - Hillary by a landslide

Was listening to some Radio 4 program and comment made which I agree with was that Mr Clinton held more of the centre ground and was a very good president.

Hillary seems to have moved further to the left and this may be a strategic mistake and difficult position to defend.

You are right, the Left is not popular in America.
The Left was largely broken by Henry Ford and his hitman Bennett in the 30s. Then the war and the Cold War finished them off.

I think Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is first choice of people for the next US President. She is known in US for her best political stand.

Donald Trump is coming strongly for the Republicans now.
Some people really like his non PC remarks, which infuriate the Democrats, feminists etc.

Hillary still in the lead but not by so much. The Clintons have been badly damaged in the truth telling game and been caught out. They show NO shame though.

Trump is actually popular with more people than you think. It is not just the non-pc comments. They like him because of his stance on immigration. He will accomplish that job because he is not afraid to talk about it.

Build that wall Trump.

The US is a nation of immigrants. Now they try to put up fences to keep more immigrants out.
Might have to share out a bit of wealth to house and feed them ?
Europe has its very own immigrant problems. Many are genuine refugees from badly run countries but some are ISL extremists determined to carry their war into Europe.

It might be a good idea if an actor ran for President. Reagan was arguably the best one yet. He had the good idea of delegating authority to the people who knew what they were talking about rather than botching it up himself. Someone like Harrison Ford or Clint Eastwood would be perfect.

What a surprise! There is still no response about where you live. I am going to say you live somewhere like Merseyside or West Midlands. You remind me of our equivalent here in the Midwest.

Every president has advisors. Reaganomics was great. It lowered taxes. He was pro business.

As for the immigrant issue, I cannot fathom how an island nation has an immigration problem. It would appear as though you need a better coast guard or more coast guards. Your problem is entirely from being a part of the EU.

Unlike some we care about the suffering of others and so let them live amongst us until they are able to return.

My main question here is, why is it that towns become so crime ridden now as opposed to 30 years ago after a change in the "culture"? Why is it that the new people that move in, can't keep the area as nice as it once was?

If your neighbor has a tree that hangs over onto your yard that constantly drops leaves on it and you have to rake it up. It will become quite annoying. If you live next to somebody who won't take care of your property it becomes quite frustrating because it affects everyone else. 1) take some pride in ownership 2) it is unsightly 3) it devalues the area.

You are changing the subject to crime. Surely much of the crime is forced by the poverty people find themselves in and some by greedy people

There are rumours that if Trump gets elected they will be changing Mount McKinley's name to Trump mountain.

No I am not changing the subject. 30 years ago people made more relative to the cost-of-living than they do now which made it easier for most people to buy a house even in a decent neighborhood. However, as certain minorities moved into certain neighborhoods they didn't take care of their property as much. For example, not watering lawns, not keeping up their property,..., which made people upset because the house prices dropped. They decide to move out to another place and more minorities move in. They then become the majority in that neighborhood. As this happens the prices begin the fall because people no longer want to live there not because minorities lives there but because it is no longer an appealing, safe place to live. It is a simple psychological fact about human nature that if all your neighbors are in really good physical shape you are more likely to want to be in good physical shape. If however all your neighbors are really unhealthy you are more likely to follow in their footsteps. It follows that if all your neighbors do not take care of their properties you are less likely to take care of your property. As the neighborhood becomes more seedy due to declining property values, more criminal elements will pop up. This is where the crime comes in. Crime begets crime. Move forward to present day and you can see the results of this.

I originally stated was that this should not happen. Now the differential between property values create more of a buffer.

Case in point being if you have a neighbor that has a tree that always drops leaves into your yard and their yard. You will have to rake up the leaves and you will get tired of doing this. Why should you have to clean up after them?

Returning to the argument about presidents, we need a president who isn't afraid to get things done. I would be most upset about electing a leader who has to listen to a group of people in another country. hint hint :sneaky:

Well things look much the same with Hillary still favourite. If Trump wasn't such a goofball he might have made it.

Reaganomics was great.

You genuinely don't appreciate that it was the deregulatory birds that took flight under Reaganomics that primarily caused the banking crash and worldwide economic disasters of 2008? Even most of the right-wing libertarian economists and analysts who share many of the other political and economic beliefs you so unhesitatingly express here understand that, and most of them have changed their minds, accordingly, about how "great" Reagonomics was.

Somehow, your determination to "Be Right" about everything has blinded you to the information glaringly apparent to anyone with even any pretence of objectivity.

The apparently ever-increasing narrow-mindedness and informational selection-bias underlying your perceptions continue to surprise me.
