They are letting him get married.

That is not the object of my post, though.

He is 80 years old and still inside.

I admire the Americans for their crime and punishment policy.

Over here they are on the streets, again, after 15-16 years

I would like to know :-

1. What did that lunatic cost the taxpayers for so long in jail ?
2. What good is it to anyone that he wasted the last umpteen years in prison.
3. Did he even see the error of his ways ? To get rewarded with some "nookie".

This is where the whole Christian thing of " turning the other cheek " is ridiculous.
He should have been taken out of the court and hung on the nearest tree.

About time the open hand of the do gooders got some stiffeners imho

I agree with all that but, as the death penalty has been abolished in most Western societies, we must make do with what there is.

Therefore, life is life and only Americans seem to know what that means. The rest of us seem to let them out after about 12-15 years.

The whole Christian thing of " turning the other cheek " regarding the death penalty, is relatively recent. We used to stick folk on bonfires and have a party around them. Life isn't much fun, nowadays, since the socialists have been around.

 We'll just have to be content with Manson, and his like, getting away with life in gaol-

I see what you mean but surely the do-gooding pendulum has swung too far the other way in favour of doing crime etc. It can swing back.
The old stick and carrot ideology still works imho. In fact I would be in favour of encouraging people to have the right attitudes and even doing positive things too. An extra vote or higher benefits etc.
The socialists have all but ruined the sterling qualities in a person that used to be admired. The peerage is under constant attack from them even if there is a Lord Kinnock, Sir Tony Baldric etc.

Bring back the death penalty for ist degree murder/ terrorism etc.
The sympathy of good people should be spent on those that are trying.

I agree from a practical point of view. Morally, executing is wrong, but I'll have to ask for forgiveness for that when I go upstairs because I heard on BBC that more and more prison officers are getting beaten up. If we can't afford to employ enough, the governments solution seems to be to let convicts out.

The world is overcrowded and there is no room for murderers, for sure.

but the murderers help with the overcrowding problem

The primary duty of every government surely is to protect their citizens from external and internal threats and make a country worth living in.
Not just fill their own bank accounts with money stolen off others, as in many countries.

This is the argument that Podemos is using, with the result that they are now a serious threat to the two main parties. The way things seem, at present, is that, although they may not have enough votes, yet, the other parties would need them in coalition.

The other part of your argument, that they have to govern well, is open to question. Good intentions and an electorate thoroughly browned off with the corruption going on by the other parties, does not mean that they are competent to be in government. Fortunately, the leader seems to understand this and it is my impression that he would be happy to just have a meaningful percentage of seats this time around.

Nevertheless, Podemos is somewhere to the left of the main socialist group and their real intentions are not too clear, yet.

Not too clear ??
Need to be wary of that lot imho at least until they have come clean. Could be anything. And then don't totally believe their er outpourings.

Do they pass the moderation and toleration hurdles ?

Huge unemployment must be a major problem. Unemployed young are not known for their patience.

Unfortunately, they only exist because of the corruption in the main parties. The problems that you express will only become apparent to the voters after the next elections.

If we are going with a Christian theme here..... how the heck is executing them morally wrong?
First off, eye for an eye.
Secondly, God executed THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE PLANET EXCEPT FOR A BOAT at one point, plus zillions of other examples where he offed offenders (think "Let my people go" and water rushing back in to fill the gap).
Morals are defined by the people who are in the majority, but it doesn't and shouldn't define someones thought patterns. Society exists for a reason. If you (and is a lawbreaker) don't like it, get out. (Though that is easier said than done, admittedly).

Who said that? God? Christ? Whatever was written in the bible is no proof that God or Christ said it, or did it and knowing human nature, as I think I do, that was written by someone wanting to brainwash the rest of us.

I wrote that to make my own position clear. I do not believe in political, or organised, Christianity, but I reserve the right to believe as I wish. "Let my people go" is political propaganda.

The institution where he currently resides does not allow conjugal visits.

Reporting this side of the pond indicates the primary purpose of the marriage is for his new wife to be entitled access to materials which currently as a non-spouse she is not entitled. She apparently believes there is evidence in this material to prove him innocent. I'm not convinced anyone cares anymore.
