counter_violent started this thread This is a true story from my business travels in Scotland.

Quite recently the Govt, has introduced some policy changes regarding incapacity benefits.
BBC News - Quarter claiming Incapacity Benefit 'can work'

What they have done is taken the view that a great number of people were milking the system. So they have taken a good number of claimants off this benefit and asked them to re-apply for it.

So, theres a chap I know up there who has been on this scheme for at least 6 yrs that I know of and possibly a great deal longer. He was on the scheme because he has "bad feet" can't walk, can't work, can't can't can't, you get the picture. So I always asked his mrs why he can't do computer work or tele-sales or some other job which wouldn't involve walking or standing etc. I never ever got a satisfactory answer.

Anyway he was taken off the benefit and as a result of this had to find a job.
You will never guess what he's doing now !

.

Car park trolly collector at a super market. Full time.

It's beyond belief that people like this have been getting away with it for donkeys years and all at the expense of the tax payer.

A clear cut case of bad government and bad policies.

The explosion in incapacity benefit over recent years is not only a scandal, it was obviously so whilst it was happening.

One former doctor put it well I think when he observed that the last few Governments achieved a remarkable feat, namely creating more invalids than the First World War.

Mind you, I expect this is how one would feel when passing off out and out lies as truth.
Keep throwing more and more money at the debt problem....it's obvious that even more debt is the cure to a debt problem right !
Think consolidation loans, think equity release, think HP, think second and third mortgages.
Then think about what govt and banksters are doing....it's no different !

It was all Blair (never mind the Iraq war - his greatest crime was to bequeath us that Brown creature) and even more so that Gorgon Brown who wanted to create mass dependency on the state to guarantee their electoral support.
Of course, genuine innocents get caught up and suffer as well as the lazy and fraudulent.

counter_violent started this thread So this begs the question.

Why is it that governments are not required by law to run their economies inline with a balanced budget+/- wiggle of 1%/annum to be corrected in the case of a deficit at each budget?

Wow, this guy knows the score !

Western democracies are going to carry on in their current feckless fashion until, one after another, they follow Greece and the other Mediterranean economies into the fiscal death spiral that begins with a loss of credibility, continues with a rise in borrowing costs, and ends as governments are forced to impose spending cuts and higher taxes at the worst possible moment.

In this scenario, the endgame involves some combination of default and inflation. We all end up as Argentina.

There is a saying and it is very true, We, all, have the governments that we deserve. With an average turnout of around 40% all over Europe, including the UK and Spain---Boris got in with around 30%---, the electorate should not complain, but it does.

My father was a bus driver. When he was driving, in the bad old union days of the fifty-sixties, each garage used to meet. He went to a meeting where 13 men turned up and the communists used to vote to bring a whole garage out on strike. If I remember correctly, 6-7 members could form a quorum that could pass a vote involving hundreds, perhaps thousands, of men.

On the buses in the sixties? Working with Stan Butler and inspector 'Blakey', must have been a scream.

The benefit system is more than a scourge. It's a fact that certain individuals should not be allowed to have children, the government is aware of this, but what action are they supposed to take? Draw up a list?

Here's a list of possible 'types', who should not be allowed to have children:

1. Disabled people.
2. Single women with incomes/salaries below a certain threshold.
3. couples (as number 2)
4. Certain criminal types.

The above is a very short list to be used as an example. At the moment, the government is fully aware that the benefits system is actually the root cause in many child abuse cases.

As an aside, the benefit system actually interferes with what we would call natural selection. Too many of the wrong 'types' procreating at a faster rate than the right 'types' is not good for any society.

What is the answer to this problem?
