One of the facts below is true, do you know which one?

a. The new Italian Pm Mario Monti was an actor in his younger days and in a return to the business they call show, auditioned for the part of Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy,...alas he didn't get the part as he was too tall.

b. Mervyn King (or Sir Merv of Swerv as he has affectionately [?] become known,) in his spare time plays lead banjo for an amateur band called The Invincibles. Their signature tune is is ' I wish I could shimmy like my Great Aunty Vera.' (deep joy !)

c. Chairman of the Federation , sorry Fed - Ben 'vader' Bernanke collects Datsun cars and restores them in his spare time. He is particularly proud of his 120Y model that he bought on ebay from an old lady in Arizona who had to sell on account of her husband having a false arm and the gearstick interfered with the webbing on sharp right hand bends - there being many in Arizona (apparently !)

d. Ex Uk Chancellor Alaister Darling whilst in office had to postpone a much needed operation at the height of the 2008 Financial crisis. It resulted in irepairable damage such that in bad weather he has to 'spend a penny' every 20 minutes.

e. Margaret Thatcher turned down a guest appearance in the popular american series All McBeal. She considered it but pulled out at the last minute because terms could not be agreed...even though she had gone as far as having an 'Autumn Conker' rinse on her famous 'helmet hairstyle.'

Lordy is that the time,...I'm off to bed...nighty night....

One of the statements below is true, see if you can decide which one

a. Gordon Brown has kept squirrels all his life since childhood. These cute little animals live to about 7 years old as a rule but he has one that is at least 35.

b. Peter Purves of BBC Tv's Blue Peter fame (...in the 70's - you know he was having a thing with Valerie Singleton and no one knew as eveyone thought she was [using the vanacular] - fishmonger,) named his famous dog Petra after the Norse god of colour who is Artep (Petra spelt backwards.)

c. Professor Stephen Hawking was once trapped in a lift with a Hoola Hoop Salesman. On re-counting the experience he said it was generally unpleasant but did help to fix his theory about black holes and the space-time continuim.

d. The late comic and wit Kenneth Williams (ooooh matron)...kept a diary from the age of 14 and his last entry before his death was '..oh what's the bloody point...'

e. The defunct royalty of Austria live on - The Count de Valle Scholpsberg in an ironic twist of fate provided the voice for The Count character in Sesame Street ( One-a shoe, two-a shoes etc...) but famously fell out with the voice behind Kermit.
