the data has been very reliable. i'm a daydrader. being able to place trades, and move stops around right on charts is great, and very fast.

love being able to trade futures in my ira too.

yea also looking into futures but don't necessarily understand them. however you don't think td ameritrades commission is way to much .. its forcing me to not be a day trader which to me is probably more profitable , however more carefulness and broad research of the market period is required. I'm a little scared but i feel as i will do the unthinkable !

tdameritrade stock commissions are a tad high at $10 flat rate, especially if you are trading smaller dollar amounts. however, as you trade larger dollar amounts the fast and precise executions the platform allows more than make up for the $10.

i trade e nasdaq minis, symbol /nq, using brackets orders. they trade essentially like stocks and are about $3 per contract.

each contract is valued at 20 x's the nasdaq 100 or currently 20 x 4341 = $86,820. so each point a contract of the mini moves is $20. they also trade in quarter point increments, and mirror qqq very closely. margin maintenance requirements are @ $5000/contract.

if you want to cut back on commissions open an account at IB. they charge .005/share. place bracket orders. you can use the tdameritrade software and place trades over at the IB website.

fyi-tdameritrade has an offer for new accounts of 60 days of commission free trades.

trust me mate, mac or pc are the least of your concerns if you are new to forex, it cant even be a condition for a good broker merely on if they do have platforms for mac or pc, well most brokers have both anyway. just take is slow and decide wisely.

Yeah hardware doesn't matter (of course minimal technical requirements should be met to run the platform). What does matter is speed and image of your broker, how do they care about clients and whether they have a philosophy that goes beyond money.

Always should look at the broker which has low commission and good reputation and also should be regulated.

its a common choice and right now most of the brokers ensure this kind of facility , but we should choose the right one which doesn't restrict any kinds of trading techniques. thanks

As far as I know, there are not many brokers restricting trading right now?
its my own experience , i have seen lots of traders face this problems even sometimes me also. traders should choose the broker which is more appropriate to the concept of trading that will be used .

Looking for a broker that has good leverage and good spreads.

Expecting for a lower commission broker who is reputed and has a regulation as well.
Hi Genois, are you still looking for a good, reliable broker and competitive spreads?

Im trading with m4markets on my mac, there spreads are very good and have good commissions.
Do you use MT4 or their proprietary platform. I'm asking this question because I'm also user of Mac and launch MT4 from Tickmill and Hotforex brokers using Wine. I wanted to hear more experience from traders who use MT4 in this way.

I'm a scalper and looking for a broker with tighter spreads and lower commission. A ECN pricing broker would be a advantage.

Read reviews on FP Markets and Tick mill not sure which broker would be suitable for scalping and lower commission when compared with other brokers.
Tickmill is great I would suggest Hotforex, both have UK license. I also tried IB very professional services but tired of paying for live price feed.

Nice... what's your approach - automated or manual MT4 trading? I still can't find good source of quotes for backtesting of automated strategies with MT4
MT4 is quite user friendly in my opinion. MT5 also introduced but i still sticking with the MT4 because i got good hands on it now.
