Hi,

If you read The Times you may or may not know about this. Its basically a game to see who is the best "best FX trader in the world", with financial rewards and other things on offer. The game is also all in real-time. I am thinking about entering as there is a section just for students, with a job offer from a major institution as one of the prizes. I am using this, more than anything really as a way to learn and not necessarily to win anything.

You may laugh, but I haven't a clue about trading forex so I was wondering if any of you pro's could give me a few tips? I mean absolutely anything whatsoever to help!!

Thanks in advance,
Steven.

Look at the T2W guide to trading Forex which you'll find in the forex forum.

Start there and start looking around the forum. Many beginners have already asked
the questions you will need to find out.

Good luck!

Set up 2 accounts - only put a trade on before a major figure. Be short with one account and long with the other.

Thnaks guys!

Just had a look at neutron bombs freebie guide to trading foreign exchange. However, it seems it is all very technical and im not making much progress! Anyone know of anyone "dummies" guide to the basics of fx trading!?

I think it's not allowed to have multiple accounts if you are going to participate in a contest.

I've entered the fxplayer competition as a complete novice, and after two weeks, to my complete astonishment, I'm 22nd out of 3800 people, with a profit of about £1.1M on a £50M exposure! This seems too good to be true. So does anyone have any experiences of doing badly on this thing, just to confirm to me that this isn't all a set-up designed to get people to place real money with the sponsors of the game? Surely it can't be, but I can't help wondering!

And assuming it's not a set-up, do you think I should try trading fx for real money, and if so, where would you recommend?

good job! If u compare your trades and how they would have done on another platform you can answer your own question. Remeber that trading play money is a lot easier also (less emotions). If you do well in the contest why not open a mini account and try your strategy out live?

happy trading!

You say that you're a complete novice, I think that a common experience for new traders is to get some beginners luck, I did when I first started, normally this wouldn't make much of a difference, but the other big mistake tends to be to take larger positions than would be recomended, it's very easy to put on a few big positions and find yourself with a huge profit, the only problem is that it is impossible to do this consistently, what you need to do is bank these early profits and make sure that you're using a good money managment strategy from now on, otherwise you'll end up wiping yourself out before long when your luck turns around.

You don't say how much you placed on each trade and on how many currency pairs, so I am only guessing that this is the situation.

Many thanks to fxplayer.com and finspreads.com!!

I just received my prize for the last-but-one fxplayer.com FX competition.

It's a 10-in-1 games table: that should keep me busy over the lunch hour, before the US starts to growl!!!

Hi c6ackp,

Welcome to Turbo Games - Round Two with more prizes, more choice and more ways to win!!

For all those players who submitted their feedback - give yourselves a pat on the back - as you will see - we can change and we do LISTEN.

This round of Turbo Games brings you the popular weekly Main prize, but now with a selection of 5 to choose from. The great new addition is daily (yes you heard right *DAILY*) Winners, and not just because your profit level is sky high! If you have a good day, shoot up the league, or are just randomly selected - you could be one of our daily winners!

Don't despair if you're really really bad - you could still join our Hall of Fame - and forever be immortalised as the 'Mug Punter' of the day, winning a customised mug that you can brandish around the office.

23rd September 2008

Due to a change in company direction, FX Player has withdrawn from the online gaming market with immediate effect and that as such, the FX Player game will no longer be available.

FX Player would like to thank all the players who joined the game over the last few years for their support.

The FXPLAYER LTD. MAY be fake!!!

I have a bonus mode account. I have traded 50 lots to get bonus that i won but FXPLAYER Ltd. does not give me it. FXPLAYER Ltd. gets money but never pays anybody. in my opinion, the fxplayer may be a fake company or a cheat company. Be careful!
