This is most important. GF777, myself and others had belief to trade our tweaks live for our own cash risk and post results. This is the true test of a varaint. You can prove anything on paper but if you never live trade it you will never know.

No point in sitting there come December saying I could have earned XXX if I had traded that live daily. So are you ready to quit your already good NT40/45 ?
Seconded. If we've learnt anything from VNT it's that no system will be successful if it rests on its laurels. There is no such thing as a universal one-fits-all system that will beat every other system every single month. As others on this forum have noted, there are trading systems out there that performed very well in 2006 to 2007 for example, but horribly since then. This is because the structure of the market has fundamentally changed since then. Just look at the ATR (Average True Range), pivot points, and bollinger bands for GPB/USD for the last year or two and they'll confirm that.

I think the true power of the spreadsheet that Mark is maintaining, and hopefully the INT variants spreadsheet that I'm now maintaining, is that we can see very quickly where a system is not "cutting the mustard" as I would like to say, and then adapt it or switch to a different variant as appropriate. For example I'm currently posting live results for 30INT40 on our daily thread. And currently it's doing very well. But at some point it WILL hit a losing run and it will no longer be appropriate because the underlying market structure will have changed. I post losing days too, there's no point me burying my head in the sand or fudging results because it doesn't help anyone. No doubt at some point maybe all the INT variants will perform poorly compared to VNT variants, but I'll be the first to admit it, I'll stop trading INT immediately and switch to something that's working.

I think the 3 month period that Mark suggests is probably sensible based on what we've seen so far in 2010. Switching on a weekly basis for example would be too often to be effective. And it would be a nightmare psychologically!

Hi Mark and GF777

I take on board the points that you both make. From my side I will carry on trading the NT40/45 variant.

I have thought about when you change your tactic too, but because of starting VNT in late Jan and getting into all the bad run of it and then doing my own variations and getting nowhere, finally losing confidence just as it gets going again - more psychological problems with recovery I find (I just get it wrong). At what point will you decide something is performing badly? Will it be after a month of poor figures?

mark120169 started this thread Ok Trappers, Trade matched results time.

First to mention is a few questionable results for RH this week, gaining VNT and few extra pips that many "live" trades did not get!

What to say about last week, ok week for VNT @ +18 but cracking week for most variants. Best performers were :

HNT40 / HNT33S / HNT +77 pips

SNT40 / SNT33S +57 pips

NT40/45 +55 pips.

INT had a slight off week due to two losses and only managaed +29 pips. This means HNT40 has just won back the pure pips crown for the last 18 weeks and also June to Sept T/D.

However the two newer 30 limit INT variants will be published next week (cross check with GF777 first for recent performance) and have now been fully backtested for 2010 and are top performers so far.

It should also be mentioned that HNT40 and INT have now both broken the 600 pips earned barrier for June to Sept T/D, so these products are now averaging 150 pips a month, above our 100 pips p/m target and 50% towards our 200 pips p/m target. And also HNT40 is now twice as profitable as VNT for this period scaled back to 2% MM.

VNT June to Sept T/D +231 pips

HNT40 Scaled 2% MM +463 pips.

Any comments welcome.

By this you mean as many already and a few almost a hairs width away from out performing VNT now for 2010 even scaled back to 2% MM?

My guestimate is that come 31st December VNT will not even make the Top 10 @ 2% mm scaling.

It's a shame one of the spreadbetting providers don't make this available as a bet LOL, we'd all make a killing!

mark120169 started this thread RH Trade matched results time.

Not much to say about last week, crap for all pretty much and only "mini" variants did not lose anything. And only one variant made a profit!

MINT +40

MNT and MNT33S +/- 0 (B/E)

Everything else took a loss, some +D trades probably made a profit but there was just no momentum in the market last week above 10 pips.

The main thing is that after the recent good run those trading variants should have had their losses drawdown from the last 4-5 weeks profit and not "stake" money.

Apologies for not adding the 30INT40 and 30INT30 results in as not had time to cross check with GF777 and ammend the spreadsheet, real world "work" very busy the last two weeks but should be ready for next week with full Sept 2010 results too.

Re: Net Trap Variant live results from 17/05/10

mark120169 started this thread Just some quick prebudget results for September 2010, not firm until RH update on Monday to trade match.

VNT + 48.5 pips

NT40/45 +58.5 pips

HNT40 +92 pips

NT30/30 +127 pips

HNT +132 pips

INT +144 pips

30INT30 +153 pips (TBC with GF777)

30INT40 +225.5 pips (TBC with GF777)

So it seems that market has shifted again and at present what makes profit is more about the lower TP limit level and less about the wider SL level.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the update.
With yours, GF777, and others hard work, coupled hopefully with other members ideas/strats in the future, things could get very interesting analysing the morning cable break.
Could be the start of a beautiful thing.
Cheers

Hi Mark,

Ok, first stupid question - does 'MM' stand for 'Money Management'? If not, what does it stand for?

Cheers
