Shut it down for a couple of pips in profit - don't like the longish wicks on tops of 5min candles. Can be wrong but normally that should not be the case. Have a good night everyone!

Could this be done? It seems you have a few differences to certain pairs.... but if it can be done.... that would be great. (need another tester in addition.... just ask. We are both backtesting at the moment for mark... mine doesn't look too good so far; how about you Marcus?)

Also, thanks for sharing this on the forum Zcar

Some excellent stuff on this thread Zcar. I normally check the daily charts between 9-10pm so could tie in nicely. Thanks for sharing. Paul.

Nice work zcar, glad to see my INT variants have inspired others to create their own variants :-)

This is one of the great things about this forum; sharing the knowledge - many heads are better than one!

All the data I have is live data, ie I sit there at 9pm watch the indicators and decide what to do whether I am actually trading live or just monitoring, ie Im not looking back at the data retrospectively in the morning and "fitting the curve".

For Aussies and Chf I use half hour charts. For EU I use both half hour and hour but theres only one trade difference to date with the hour winning once more than the halfs.

Indicators, first I use MA40, MMI and MA60 and check to see what they are doing for the last few hours. In addition I get confirnation from the SAR and Candle colour. SAR is set to 0.02 0.02 0.2. Last two are the MACD and MA. I use these to confirm a rising or falling market. MACD set to 12 26 and MA set to 9.

I'll post up a few shots of the spreadsheet so you can see how its been doing.
Thank you for this - very interesting

Regards to MACD is setting 12,26,9? just wanted to clarify the '9' bit as it was not included by is default in my chart package

thank you

zcar started this thread MACD is 12 26 and the MA 9.

One of them new fangled MT4 things, nope fraid not, all this is done with good old pencil and paper noting the info of IG and then transposing onto a spreadsheet. Im old school Im afraid.

Note that the MACD in MT4 doesn't display the correct MACD. You need a custom MACD.

G'day guys,

I've been out of action for quite a while but I still try to read all the posts daily! Many thanks to Nick for sharing this info. Evening trading would personally suit me much better than early mornings for all sorts of reasons. Many thanks once again Nick!

Regards,
MD

Interesting thread and Indicator that may work well with this strategy for discretion, prepare for 2 years worth of reading though:

I dont normally have much to add to this forum but I do have experience of overnight trading. Since late 2010 I have been watching and trading 4 currency pairs overnight, on and off. These are EurUsd, AudUsd, AudEur and EurChf. Initially the EurUsd shone through but tailed off in Jan and Feb 11. The AudUsd was a clear winner and whilst isnt doing too bad at the moment the EurUSd is coming back into its own this month.

The best is AudUsd and is currently running at 1402 pips profit this year, followed by the AudEur at 1072 pips.

Ive attached a picture of the bottom of my success/failure sheet so you can see the totals if anyone is interested.

Nick
Great work. Thanks for sharing this Nick.

I hope that is can help us all as we go through this uncertain period with INT.
