AlexM started this thread 06:30:49 @ 1.62270 Today.
With a message saying "cannot login [no connection]" @ 06:30:22

I have a second MT4 account running with same EA version that managed 06:30:13 @ 1.62277... Not the same account, both real.

I'll setup a spreadsheet later today and start saving delay times + entry level vs actual 6:30:00 price and trade result with/without delay.

I have a hope that it will all balance out over time but I'd like to know for certain.

Good luck with your investigations, although I'm pretty sure that SLM will prove to provide only so-so performance over a long timespan.

Unfortunately unless you either stick to manual (non-EA) trading or go for a non-spreadbetting broker there's not a lot you can do about any small delays. If you complain to SLM they'll just blame MT4 or the EAs. SLM are currently the only spreadbetting broker offering MT4 access, and they can exploit this situation if they so choose.

If you want consistently tight entries and spreads you'll need to go for an ECN broker.

Well you did much better than me, my VPS was down this morning for some reason, so the EAs didn't place my trades. It had to be a winning trade didn't it!

Really pi**ed off with VPS provider SWtech. Random reboots I can tolerate because everything will restart again automatically, but unexpected downtime is something I can do nothing about. Had enough. Switching to 1and1.co.uk asap.

Got the usual 'Cannot Login [No Connection]' error this morning at 06:30:14 and then the order finally got processed at 06:32:01 - which is pretty poor!!

Re: Tracking SLM Entry Delay

AlexM started this thread This seems totally random to me. It could be just poor server performance on SLM's part.
Each person and even each account run on the same server appear to get different entry times.

Sometimes on the longer delays there one or both of the errors below:
"trade error (6): no connection with trade server: retrying"
or
"stdlib GBPUSDSB,M15: loaded successfully"

My entry times for the last month are looking much better now that I am recording them, naturally.
Date/ Time /Open Price/ Direction
20110602 - 06:30:01 1.63315 sell
20110603 - 06:30:00 1.63445 sell
