TulipFx' Kangaroo EA

On my travels around the net for backtesting research I came across a great site with all the info I needed and some thorough statistical analysts which I've posted a few links too:

http://eareview.net/tick-data

The author Birt reviews, back-tests and forward-tests many EAs using this tick-data and other quantitate and qualitative analysis. One in particular caught my eye, a scalping EA called Kangaroo EA by Tulip FX:

http://eareview.net/640/scalping/kangarooea

So I read the reviews, compared the live results available on myfxbook.com

http://www.myfxbook.com/search/kangaroo

and I took the plunge ordering it and due to my confidence in the integrity of the system over the last 9 months I've taken the bold step of going live with it straight away.

I run a demo account in parallel and have added the results to my signature so you can track it too and make up your own minds. (I called it Glassy - because the equity curve is so smooth)

It's very much set and forget and nothing to tweak so it may not be for everyone, plus of course there's a startup fee and monthly subscription so you need to consider your account size in working out if it will give you a worthwhile boost.

Then, when asking a couple of minor support questions, the developers are very chatty on email so I've chatted back and forth with them.

To conclude, I offered to post a link on this forum for general interest and this is the nice unedited reply email and offer they sent me back:

Quote:
Hi Marcus,

That sounds great. Knowledgeable traders will appreciate real information presented without bias.

I thought perhaps the best way to introduce the offer is for a little message from us you can past below your opinion piece.

----

Dutch and I would like to thank Marcus for taking the time to review our robot.

He told us that he was planning to write a review for your site so we offered him an affiliate link if he'd like. We only offer affiliation to people who do fair and honest reviews rather then spam their email lists promising people they'll be rich by next month.

Marcus, being the gentleman he is declined that, saying he just wanted to help other traders. We are delighted to have someone like Marcus as a client so instead we said that we would offer the forums a discount instead.

To purchase KangarooEA at a 15% discount follow these instructions:

Please visit this special purchase page: https://www.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.js...ractId=2927580

When you visit, in the coupon box enter the following coupon: trade2win / systemsfortraders (post whichever is appropriate)

After entering your coupon click on recalculate. Your 15% discount will then be displayed and you can complete your purchase.

This discount is available until Sunday the 17th of April.

All the best with everyone's trading,

Ozzie + Dutch @ TulipFX

-------

Of course you know the forums, so if you think that a message from us makes it sound like you are a stooge then feel free to rip it to pieces and just post the relevant bits

Regards,

Ozzie @ TulipFX
None of this is advice, do your own research and make up your own mind.

All I can say is I'm running it on my live account and am happy with the results so far and the fees as an investment in the developers for further R&D hence I haven't taken the discount they offered for myself. I can see the functionality of the EA is fantastic and may even give Greg a few ideas to research.

I would also say do NOT set the risk settings to over 10% even if you don't keep all your money in one account and are scaling the risk, 10% is definitely the maximum you can do due to the large stops needed for the scalping R:R and 5% Risk is perfectly adequate for a good return to boost your pot and pay the fees.

Do read all of Birt's Review, all the info on their website and the attached white paper and let me know your thoughts.

surferking started this thread PS, just re-read their message. I'll ask them to extend that offer a couple of weeks so you don't get rushed into anything.

Thanks for posting this Marcus, it will be a very interesting read. I'll definitely need a week or so to digest it so an extension of the offer would be good.

Hi Marcus,

Thank you very much.

I have activated the 15% upfront discount for trade2win and systems for
traders forums. They are valid until the 15th May New York time.

Because we don't have access to the forum could I ask if you could send us a
copy of your posts so we can see what your review had to say? We value
client feedback and opinion.

Regards,

Ozzie @ TulipFX
If you guys like it, you might consider making Ozzie and Dutch honorary members of the forum as I'm sure their experience would yield valued contributions and they would appreciate the work here as much as I respect the amount of work they've obviously put into their strategies. Understand its not my call though, just putting it out there for discussion.

Be careful of the mods. This could be classed as selling!

My advice with ea's such as this is only to trade it on a small proportion of your account. This does look one of the better ones out there, but a friend of mine trades this and he had 6 positions open on aususd yesterday hoping for it to come back to b/e which it did, but a scary ride. The default risk level equates to approx 20% loss of account if stop loss hit.

Hmm, this looks interesting, I'm looking for something decent that I can leave to autotrade.
I sent them an email asking about the viability using a SB broker, i.e. SLM.
Not sure how much they 'smooth' their raw data tho!
