Windows has that built in already.
Go to control panel\scheduled tasks
just add a task to shutdown MT4 and then the PC a few minutes later.

I've downloaded WineBottler, a beta application that runs Windows applications. When you download it you will find MetaTrader4 as one of the pre-installed prefixes (their word for applications). After you have installed this on your compute and you have downloaded your EA.ex4 file this is the path you follow (which is equivalent to no.6 in the instructions).

Go to Library - Application Support - Wine - Prefixes - MetaTrader4 - Drive C - Program Files - MetaTrader4 - Experts. (Copy the file into Experts).

From that point, follow the instructions that have already been posted.

I'm not an expert, I got this through trial and error. I know us mac users are a minority, but we can use EA's as well. Perhaps a more common way for Mac users is to use Parallels, but I prefer WineBottler, and this works for me.

Hi RD,

See you posted this some time ago, care to provide an update please?

Still a bit undecided about using EAs on SLM, your current views would be welcome, thanks.

If you've got an intel mac you can install Windows on it and have a proper dual boot machine.

So far I'm happy to say everything is working just fine. I've had no problems with Wine Bottler or MT4.

The main reason for not using Parallels (which I haven't actually heard bad things about) is it's really just my intention to run this one windows application on my macbook. If I was considering several non mac applications then I think Parallels might be a better choice.

For me the most important thing was to have it work and not require me to understand why or how. Computers are just not my skills, so anything easy get's my vote.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's not easy to acquire an English Windows CD in Japan.

I'd be grateful if you have any details where I can download Win XP (for which I have a CoA), please.

Sounds like the best approach to me as well, RD.

Just one problem, when I try to install I get the message:
'You cannot use the application "Wine.app" with this version of Mac OS X.'
I am stuck on OS X 10.4.

In order to leave no stone unturned, can I ask you where you have installed MetaTrader4 on your system, please.

Thanks.

Sorry if this is covered somewhere else- had a look but couldn't find, how do I run more than one variant at a time? A bit nervous about simply opening up another chart, as when I open SML on another machine during a live trade, it doesn't start a new trade, just shows the current trade.

cheers
