Set up EA on SML demo account last night, been meaning to do it for ages.
No problems thanks to Golfingers step by step, and Mark's summary.
A bit dissapointing this morning, but at least it worked and showed a no trade.

Thanks again for your hard work, it made the whole set up painless.

Nice to know that somebody has been successful after reading the instructions, good to know that they're accurate.

Setting up an EA really isn't a difficult process. It just requires a bit of thought and diligence and that age old saying RTFM "Read the f**king manual"!, or in this case the instructions provided on this forum!

Hi, I've been trying to download and setup MT4 from the SLM email, however I keep getting a virus detected by Mcafee? Although it states the download is also complete I cannot launch it?

Anyone had any similar problems? I've emailed SLM and awaiting a response.

Thanks in advance......

Hi guys, finally got round to trying to get my head around this MT4 and EA on SLM. Managed to set it up on the SLM demo account (I think) this morning thanks to Goldfingers instructions, thanks very much for that, but alas it seemed to be a no trade today so didn't see it in action.

What does the sad smiley face in the top right hand corner mean?..

Hi.

The AI EA is the .ex4 file. This is the autotrading program with my special AI coded into it.

You put this in the C:/program files/ smart live markets / experts.

The other .set files are settings files (hence .set) FOR the .ex4 program. you put these in C:/program files/ smart live markets / experts / presets . what each of these do is in each description.

Basically I have set these up for you all with an explanation of each. All you have to do is chose which .set file you wan to trade and put it in the presets folder.

Then you close down and relaunch MT4 , open an GBP/USD folder. Do ctrl + N , go to the experts folder and drag the FNTTraderAI_v002 onto the GU chart. It will then go straight to a settings screen with a "load" buttom botton right of the box. Click load and find the .set file you chose. load it.

Then go to the money management section and changes lots from 0.10 (10p) to whatever you trade per pip. So lots = 1 would be £1 pip. Once that is done click save and save this over the .set file.

So the set file you chose is now set up to trade and your £ / pip. Now if you go on the chart, right click and select templates, you can chose "save template" and call it something like "FNT INT30-30 AI RT".

You now can leave the PC running 24/7 or each time you start the PC to trade and launch MT4 just open a GU chart, right click, load template, select the FNT one and hey presto the chart design, EA, and .set files you all saved in the template will all appear in seconds already set to 15 min chart to ready to trade.

Obviously you need to set up the GU chart with candle and wick colours you like, and add the MA40 in blue and AI indicators in Pink for your visual reference. although they do not need to be on the chart for the EA to work as it calcualtes them from chart candle / price data.

Job done.

Hi Mark, sent a PM re the Ai.

I think it means you`re not set up for live trading.Make sure the live trading box is ticked in the settings, you also need to enable on slm account page, takes a few days for them to activate it,hope this helps

I've started last Thursday... it all works... but as i have told SpinDrift in another thread... my charts are off by one hour...

Also, can i leave the EA loaded all week. I presume you can as it will just follow the parameters at that time?

If, like me, you have lots of versions of MT4 running and other folders in the taskbar that you're working with then you might find this handy:

Taskbar Shuffle
http://download.cnet.com/Taskbar-Shu...-10704042.html

(a feature Macs already have that windows should have)

Personally I have my MT4 windows in alphabetical order for each strategy with a default testing one always first so as not to accidentally interfere with a live trading profile.

Hope you find this useful.

Another aspect to remember is to make sure your time is synchronised with an NTP (Network Time Protocol) server as your machines time can drift at times and then your EA won't kick off at 6.30 exactly and you might get a worse price

Some ISP's provide them and there is the default time.windows.com but here is a list of others;

I thought MT4 used the server time from SLM anyway?

I am confused by the one hour ahead time showing on chart. Does this mean the EA parameters should be to trade at 7:30 instead of 6:30 ?

You can put GMT times into the EA settings, it will automatically adjust for the broker's time offset.
